Diversity is very accepted here. Everyone is tolerant of another and are encouraged to do so by the staff.

Guys & Girls:
Guys Are Just OKAY – I've met some guys in class that are very friendly. There's tons of cute guys at the gym. But overall, it seems like a lot of the guys think there too good for the average girls (even if they're average their selves). Especially frat guys.

I think there needs to be updated computers. However, they are reliable except during testing time, it would be nice if color printing was cheaper also.

Greek life at UT is very big and most students are associated in it some way or another.

Off campus housing in Austin is usually very nice. the only downside are the high prices.

Mccombs Student Services – The advisers really know how to help each student individually. They offer plenty of tips on how to truly enhance each student's learning experience.

Drug Availability – I would say that drug availability on campus is average but that they're pretty easy to get in austin in general.

I love the University of Texas because of the variety of classes available and the dedication of the professors. I like that there are so many options but I wish it was easier to take classes from other departments. The professors are really awesome, though and obviously dedicated to their subjects.

Buses Are Convenient – A student at UT can ride the public buses for free, which are constantly running through campus and can take you everywhere. They also offer shuttles to get around the huge campus. The only downside is that after 11 pm, there are no more buses.

Downtown Austin – The nightlife is very vibrant and there's always something to do. Most people like to pre-party on campus and head out Downtown. The school provides free bus shuttle to and from downtown, so it is safer.

Never Had an Issue With the Techonology – The computers are always really nice and fast. They are EVERYWHERE on campus too. Copiers and printers run smoothly, and if you ever have trouble with one, someone is always there to help out.

Austin is really the perfect college town. It's the Music Capital of the World, how can it not be? There are concerts going on every night, several places to go dancing, and always something interesting to do. I've never had so much fun in a city of this size.

Overall, the academics here are very good. Professors usually know a lot about what they are teaching and are available to meet with after class for extra help. Most of the first 2 years of school here are filled with classes of 200+ students which makes it very difficult to bond with teachers and other classmates, which is the biggest downfall of the school. TA's tend to grade everything, so if you don't get a patient and understanding TA, you're almost out of luck for the semester unless you're able to suck up enough to pull a decent grade. Professors are usually pretty good about picking capable TA's though (however I have had a handful of unhelpful ones).

Don't Know If I'd Settle for Anything Less! UT is great. I've met a rediculous amount of people here, and done things i'd thought i'd never do. People are frendly, and there's never a shortage of things to do. Join a club at UT there's plenty to go around! And student events practiacally every day of the week.

Hot and Windy – You're going to get the full experience of texas. It's 90 in early fall, and temperatures never go below 60. It can get very windy in the city. Ocassionally we get heavy rain, but making it from one end of the campus to the other without getting too wet is easy enough if you cut through the buildings.

Unbeatable Atmosphere, Great Classes – The University of Texas at Austin has an unparalleled atmosphere. The music scene is unbeatable, and there's always something to do any night of the week. The teachers know their business, and while some classes can be head-to-wall hard, you're definately learning something. The computer science department is especially great, constantly keeping students connected with career opportunities.

You Can Eat Away Your Life at Austin Restaurants – There are so many fantastic restaurants right off the UT campus. It's almost impossible not to gain more than the freshman 15. Most restaurants also let you use your Bevo bucks.

Be Prepared to Study Your Life Away – The average to get into nursing school at UT is a 3.75! Think about checking out the extension program that UT has with Austin Community College as a way to get some of the harder science classes out of the way!

Football Team – UT has one of the country's best football teams. The team is loved by not only current UT students but alums. The 100,000 seat stadium is always at total capacity and the school spirit is awe inspiring. There is nothing better in the world to experience then to attend a UT football game!

UT Cares About the Safety of Its Students – My first month at UT Austin was an exciting and scary experience. A crazed student was going around campus with a gun wildly shooting at people. Before I even knew what was going on, my emergency contact received a text from the university saying it was going into lock down for safety reasons. Soon after that, announcements could be heard around campus instructing students to stay inside. Additionally, we received texts, emails and verbal instructions from our dorm RAs to stay in our rooms. In a matter of seconds the campus was on total lock down and we were safe. Within a few minutes the gunman was also isolated. I could not have felt any safer and secure in thought with the quick and efficient methods UT campus police took to secure each and every student.

What It's Like to Be a Nursing Student at UT – UT really has its act together for students. There are excellent advisors, professors and resources to facilitate learning. There are numerous organizations to join, make new friends/study partners, and ultimately use to network with after graduation. I love UT and all the people that support the UT community.
