UT Makes You Feel a True Longhorn – UT- Austin is a great University with diversity and the size indicates a great deal of opportunities for any type of student. The dorms are great and economical although Jester needs a little more touch ups. The atmosphere is awesome and you feel your blood burning a burnt orange. The University does have an enormous campus but in less than a month you know where everything is and if you are lost you can find maps around campus. The quality of education and opportunities you have here at UT- Austin exceeds expectations.

Texas weather is unpredictable. The weather can change literally within minutes. But for the most part, it is sunny and slightly humid out here in Austin. I would advise to check the weather for the whole day before going out for whatever.

I Haven't Really Heard of Any Huge Drug Busts – Texas really does not have a huge drug problem. There are people who smoke weed and such but they are usually low key about it. There is alot of drinking though. It really depends on the crowd you hang out with.

Apartments Are Reasonable! Austin has apartments that are cost-effective for students. Many students live on Riverside or Oltorf for cheap. If you want really nice convenience of walking to class and have the money to do so, then I'd recommend looking at apartments on West Campus. Those who want to live away from campus tend to look at apartments in North or South Austin.

UT Computer Areas – Austin is one big hot spot. Internet at school is fast and pretty reliable in the labs and most of the computers are new and in good condition. The labs are only really crowded area midterms and finals, but there are plenty of areas to set up your own labtop.

Very Diverse – There are definitely all the races that can be thought of, and for the most part everyone gets along well with each other and there is tolerance of all people.

Always Something to Do. The gym is amazing, the library is also one of the best I've seen, and there is always something to do around campus that will not leave people bored.

Great Program, but Challenging! This is definitely a great major to attempt, although it would be a good idea to be prepared for heavy coursework and homework. In the end it all does pay off.

Great Balance of Academics + Fun! UT Austin experience is unlike any other University experience. You can have a GREAT experience on campus in classes, the professors are AWESOME and very thought provoking! There are so many opportunities to further your education through internships close to campus, at the capital. Nightlife, as I said is AWESOME. You don't have to go far at all to find an awesome party. But at the same time if you want to be classy, downtown to 6th street is the way to go! Being on campus is awesome. Inbetween classes if you want to work out, we have an AWESOME gym, with a great rooftop pool that's ALWAYS full of gorgeous people! Austin is a great place to be, great mix of city + country, everyone is so nice and makes you feel welcome. Not to mention, it's great to be a part of the LONGHORN TRADITION, everyone is so school spirited and it's so much fun to be a part of the Saturday football games. Tailgaiting all day with crazy fans is awesome. All in All, if you don't mind some big classes, nice weather, and constantly seeing burnt orange, Austin is the place to be!

SO AWESOME – Seriously, Austin has GOT to be one of the best places for nightlight. There are hole in the wall bars/music spots RIGHT ACROSS campus. A few streets down (a taxi ride/shuttle bus ) away is 6TH STREET!! Which is an awesome spot for entertainment of music, clubs, bars, resturants. There is SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY on 6th street, even if you're not 18! Students of UT Austin definitely know how to party. Even if you aren't down for travelling a very long way, West Campus is home of MANY Fraternities and apartments for parties. NIGHTLIFE IS BAD ASS

Health & Safety:
Definitely Secure + Safe! Campus is VERY safe. There are many programs like Campus Watch, text message alert, self-defense classes to make a student feel AWARE of their surroundings and kept up to date with what is going on around campus safety wise. The University reaches students in everyway that it can to keep them informed on suspicious activity and how to avoid it while on campus. I never feel threaten in anyway. Access to buildings is very secure as well, specifically to dorms. After hours, there are things such as SureWalk that provide you with an escort home when it is late on campus. Additionally, everytime I walk somewhere I usually see 2/3 cop cars patrolling campus which also makes me feel soooo much more secure! University of Texas safety and security is amazing!

Good and Bad Times – Choosing UT was a last minute decision, and do I wonder if I made the right choice? Sometimes yes, but hey it's been a pretty good 2 years so far and I love the city of Austin so there is so much to do! UT is definitely a tough school, class wise, but there is always something to do!

Not So Good – Parking on campus is practically impossible if you don't have some sort of permit. There are so many options for permits that it's overwhelming. They don't cost that much, but once you have the permit it is still difficult to find a spot. Get there early and hopefully you'll be on time to class. Don't park where you shouldn't b/c tickets stack up! You don't neccessarily need a car, the bus is very handy, but for commuters parking is a hassle.

A lot of people are in greek life, but compared to how huge UT is, its actually not a large percentage of people. However, if you're not in a fraternity or sorority it is harder to meet people because the school has so many people. Non-greek people tend to frown upon Greek students, but they tolerate them.

there is a wide variety of shopping because of how culturally diverse of a city austin is. it's great!

i would like to see UT shuttles that go out to places like slaughter lane. i've heard that a texas state bus runs from that area all the way to campus, so why can't UT get one out there as well

Cost and Location – the cost of the parking permits are kind of expensive, especially because the locations are not even really convenient. the best thing to do is take the UT bus. ITS FREE!

Guys & Girls:
many of the guys and girls at UT seemed to be pretty involved in different types of student organizations

Good, but Expensive – Lots of good places, but a few overrated ones ones too. Kind of pricey for the college budget.

Number One Party School on Playboy Magazine – Whether it's downtown or a house party, there's always something to do at night in Austin. Always fun. e-bus takes people downtown and back to campus until 3 am

The Size – There are so many people at UT! You seem to run into the same group of people in your major or classes, but at parties and just hanging around the dining halls you will find and meet awesome people you've never seen before.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
