Getting Tickets
Students can order the Longhorn All-Sports Package with their registration for only $70. This makes students eligible for the draw for tickets for all home games for all UT sports. It is a great investment, as regular tickets for every game would greatly exceed the $70 cost. However, student season tickets are really the more important investment because you are guaranteed the same seats for every game, you don't have to go through the draw, you can make a block with your friends, and you can get a ticket for the OU and for the A&M games. This is definitely the way to go. However, if you are not an upperclassman, don't expect to get the best seats.
Best Place to Take a Walk
South Mall, Pease Park (west of campus, near Lamar Boulevard), the indoor track in Gregory Gym, from campus to the Capital Building, up and down the Drag
Did You Know?
  • While Ricky Williams was playing for Texas, many people called him "little Earl" because his awesome playing style was reminiscent of another UT running back, Earl Campbell. While Earl Campbell was playing football at Texas he was awarded the Heisman Trophy, and is the only Longhorn to have won the O'Brien Memorial Trophy for the outstanding player in the southwest.
  • Ricky Williams was not only awarded the Heisman Trophy in 1998, but he also won the Doak Walker award for the best college running back in both 1997 and 1998. Also in 1998, he received the Maxwell award, which honors the nation's outstanding college football player. Ricky is also the only University of Texas player to win The Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year trophy, which is awarded to the nation's top player who has exemplified the qualities of self-discipline, unselfish team play, desire to excel, mature judgement and respected leadership.
  • The Longhorns also have two winners of the Lombardi Trophy, Tony Degrate in 1984, and Kenneth Sims in 1981. Tommy Nobis, like Ricky Williams, was awarded the Maxwell award in 1965. Three Longhorns have also won the Outland Trophy-Scott Appleton in 1963, Tommy Nobis in 1965, and Brad Shearer in 1977.
  • Fourteen Longhorns can be found in the National Football Hall of Fame.
  • The Texas Longhorns have won a total of 43 national championship titles. The men's swimming and diving team were back-to-back national champions in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Women's track and field, both indoor and outdoor, won two back-to-back national championships in 1998 and 1999.
  • Texas Longhorns have won 47 gold medals, 25 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals at the Olympic Games. The University of Texas has produced 42 olympic medalists. Current and former Longhorns won 21 medals at the 2004 summer Olympic Games including 11 gold medals.
  • The University's first football game was played in 1893. The first Texas-Texas A&M game was played in 1894.
  • The University of Texas has won more Big 12 titles in men's and women's sports than any other school.
  • In the fall of 2002, Sports Illustrated named UT number 1 among the nation's 324 Division I athletic programs.
