Food in Austin is awesome! One of the best things about this town is the sheer number of restaurants, not to mention the quality of our restaurants. Austin is home to tons of great Mexican restaurants, and those are definitely student favorites. A favorite Austin pastime is Mexican food and a nice cold margarita . . . or just the margarita. Some of the best in town are found at Iron Cactus, Trudy's, Nuevo Leon, El Arroyo and Baby Acapulco (Baby A's). If you want to get really drunk, try the Purple at Baby A's or the Cactus Juice at Iron Cactus (it is made with everclear), or the Mexican martinis at Trudys (there is a limit of two).

Austin has every other type of food you can imagine from BBQ to Thai, Chinese to tapas, delis to vegetarian-only. There are so many places to try, and the students recommend Magnolia Café, Dirty's, Texadelphia, Hula Hut and Freebird's. The most popular things to do in Austin besides go to 6th Street, frat parties, or protest, is to go out to eat. So, get ready to gain your Freshman 15 here in Austin and find your new favorite restaurants.
