The average UT Dallas student is OK-looking, crossing a bit over into geek territory. However, there are attractive students on campus—some very attractive ones, too—and most of the time, they’re friendly and open to conversation. Student athletes are generally the fittest and hottest people on campus, and there are quite a few of them. Unfortunately, for guys, the male-to-female ratio puts them at a slight disadvantage to find romance. The majority of students is not into partying, and one can hardly find a party animal on campus. Good parties do exist, but you often have to know the right people and go off campus.
Short-term romances driven by lust aren’t typical of the dating scene at UT Dallas. People date quite a lot, then fall apart or form longer-lived relationships. Many hold on to their high school romances or remain faithful with their long-distance lover. A few people opt for abstinence, even when they’re good looking and confident enough to get very decent dates. Once in a while, you will hear stories of nerds-turned-hotties, which is quite indicative of the social scene where different groups mingle and befriend each other without noticeable reservation. Joining a fraternity doesn’t mean leaving your "Modern Warfare" buddies, unless you deliberately choose to do so.
