College Senior 2013-11-30T00:19:46Z
it is kind of pricy for students, however i am sure it is better than other states.

I don't feel that UTEP has an issue with drugs and alcohol. If any drug/alcohol issues are present, it's definitely done off campus.

Health & Safety:
UTEP provides average health and security measures.

I don't know much about the campus greek life nor am I interested.

The campus could surely use more computer labs and more modernized computers. Although it does have many available already, many of them are secluded in one area of the campus and that's inconvenient for when you are further away. Also, the wireless is always asking to re-enter your credentials, which makes it bothersome for when you want to do something quickly.

The nightlife off-campus is decent, although many of them are club orientated and there aren't many pubs/bars to choose from. Having more local bars and pubs would be ideal to students, that way they can walk to them instead of driving and risking getting into trouble.

The campus dining has a wide variety of foods available for students. However, not all those options are healthy ones. I feel that the campus needs to concentrate on supplying a healthier food chain so that way students can focus on their overall health and not opt to get the fastest, cheapest item available.

El Paso is relatively a big town with a small town mentality. It could definitely use more activities, but it has a fair amount. The small town mentality comes in handy when making acquaintances and friendships, you tend to meet people and stay in contact with them. Overall, it isn't the best but it surely has its perks as a college student.
College Senior 2013-11-26T19:52:57Z
El Paso is mostly sunny during the year, but it does have it's days where the cold weather becomes an obstacle, especially when it snows. The campus becomes slippery and tends to slow down the traffic. Other than that, there's no other issue.

I am very comfortable at UTEP. It's been a smooth ride compared to stories I hear about different campuses and there is always people to speak to about the issues you are facing. The layout of the campus is great, it isn't confusing and doesn't take too much time to get to your classes. Professors are always accessible and courteous.

I think the financial aid department could definitely hire more individuals to help them execute the massive crowd that flocks to the office when the beginning of the semesters come around. I also feel like they should be more knowledgeable about how to assist students who don't fully comprehend what they are taking on by accepting such loans.

Here on my campus, football and basketball take the lead as far as athletics go. They provide great spirit for our school and take on a lot of the school pride. Many students are enthusiasts of the athletic teams here, flocking to the stadiums to support them and always being amazing fans.

I do not live on campus.

The University of Texas at El Paso has an exemplary Multimedia Journalism program. It dabbles very well into students' development and offers many opportunities, such like working in student publication departments. The department staff is also great, giving great insight and always very approachable.
College Senior 2013-11-26T19:46:02Z
The academics at the University of Texas at El Paso is decent. The professors can be advised to keep up with modern technology and perhaps could attend workshops on how to adapt it to their classroom aesthetics. The curriculum is good, but the registration process is tedious. The campus could also use more study areas, where students can stray from the crowd and allow themselves some quiet in which to study and read.

All that the financial aid office needs from me they let me know and I do my best to get what they need for the process. However, being a military spouse I need this one paper done which has been a constant issue trying to get it filled out by military superiors. For proof of military involvement the school should find other ways to prove it or get that info.

Interested in greek life, yet not involved at this time.

Health & Safety:
I have had no real experiences with this topic. So far no issues and I don't see many campus police as of yet.
College Freshman 2013-11-25T20:24:32Z
I live in military housing so I do not have experience with off campus housing and how the school may help students find housing off campus.
