College Prowler Take
Texas, overall, is an attractive state, and UT, the largest university in the state, is certainly no exception. There is every type of guy and girl on campus. With 50,000 students how could you not find someone that you find attractive? Styles here range from skater to sorority girl, hippie to prep, activist to stoner, model to “anything but,” frat boy to thug, prissy girl to outdoorsy, and of course, there’s a fair share of nerds and jocks. You can find whatever it is you are looking for at UT. However, it is somewhat difficult to find someone who wants the same things that you want, i.e. a relationship or no strings attached, depending on your philosophy and your current place in life. The guys at UT agree that the girls here are hot and they enjoy going to class for the eye candy, if nothing else. The guys here unfortunately have yet to win any awards, but there are definitely a lot of good looking ones out there. This campus may not be as diverse racially as other campuses, but there is definitely a diversity in the types of people at this school. So, whatever your type is, you should be able to find someone who suits your fancy.

UT girls were just voted the hottest in the country by Playboy’s first actual college poll, not the fake ones that always get passed around. |

The girls are the hottest in Texas. All my friends that attend other universities and come to visit me simply gawk whenever they are on campus. It doesn’t get any better. Your odds aren’t too bad, either, with approximately 25,000 college-aged women within walking distance. You can’t strike out every time. |

The guys are laid-back, and the only reason I go to campus anymore is to see all the hot girls walk around in tank tops. I love warm Texas weather. |

I can’t remember the last time I was walking around UT and didn’t see a hot guy. They are everywhere. With about 25,000 men running around, you are bound to find a cute one! Many days, I am overwhelmed with the hotness around me in my classes, but that usually means I’ll go, so that helps me out. |

Social Scene
The social scene on and around the UT campus is definitely one of the most positive things about this university. We are often ranked as one of the top 10 (or at least in the top 20) party schools in the nation. The students at Texas definitely know how to have fun. Whether it is storming Guadalupe after Ricky Williams won the Heisman, and thousands of students were singing the "Eyes of Texas," while others climbed on top of a Capital Metro Bus, or a rowdy frat party, the social scene at UT can't be beat. After we win a home football game, there are always huge celebrations on campus, at the fraternity houses, and downtown. Organizations on campus have house and apartment parties, and this is a great way to spend time with your friends outside of working on the main purpose of your organization, whether it be political, service, honorary, or social.
Hookups or Relationships?
The people who want to be in relationships, at least the guys, are in them. Most guys want hookups (not to say that girls don't want them, as well), but it is pretty much guaranteed that guys are interested in casual hookups. Freshman year is definitely not a time for relationships, as there are too many people to meet to be tied down. I also don't recommend long distance relationships or relationships where one partner is still in high school during your freshman year. This is especially true if you will be living in a coed dorm. Cheating will occur. I've seen it too many times, and as much as you want to say you won't do it, it is more than likely going to happen. So, you might as well just go to college single and be able to do what you want to do without hurting someone else. Dating, as in going out on dates, is almost non-existent here, outside of relationships. Dating consists of hanging out, going to parties, or maybe going to or meeting up at a bar. I would ask the new generation of Longhorn men to try and change this, and take the girls out on real dates once in awhile. Trust me, they'll appreciate it.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
With 50,000 students on campus and 7,000 freshman in your class, there have got to be a few that you like. A great way to meet people is if you live in a coed dorm because everyone is right there, either right down the hall, next door, or on the next floor. And the coed dorm is also very conducive to hookups, as everyone is located quite conveniently. Fraternity parties are also a popular place to meet people, and alcohol helps everyone overcome any shyness they might possess. Students might also meet someone in class—a novel idea. Study groups are good for your grade point average, as well as your social life, if you pick those you find most attractive to join your group. Bars, once you are 21, are definitely a place to meet people, and you could meet a different sort of person than the type you normally hang around with. Sixth Street attracts people from all over Austin, not just students. Organizations on campus are another opportunity to meet people, and these people you know you will have something in common with.
Dress Code
You can wear anything at UTA when you are going to class. It's easy to spot the freshmen girls on campus because they are the ones who take the time to shower before class, to put on full makeup, to wear a skirt and cute top. Once girls get older, they realize that it doesn't matter what they look like for class and they wear what everyone else wears: T-shirts, jeans, pajama pants, soft shorts, wind pants, sweat shirts, tank tops, little or no makeup, un-showered. You can tell the freshmen guys by the orange shirts that they wear to class at least three days a week. A little thing we like to say is, "We get it, you got in!" Once they grow out of that, guys wear T-shirts, jeans, khaki shorts, athletic shorts, wind pants, khaki pants, sweatshirts, and polo shirts. Pretty much everyone in the Greek system will wear their Greek T-shirts almost everyday on campus. Flip-flops are definitely a must on campus, and they are worn year-round, as it never really gets too cold for them. Reefs are very popular, as are Rainbows. Lots of guys wear boots, New Balance tennis shoes, and Merrells are also pretty popular.
