Students are encouraged to live in the dorms on campus to enrich their college experience. It is important to keep in mind that, due to the increase in enrollment each year, students should request housing early, as space has become limited. Campus housing saves both time and money, as traffic in San Antonio can become hectic, and finding a parking space can sometimes be a hassle. Living on campus also allows for you to meet new and interesting people and become more involved in campus activities. Each residence hall is assigned a resident assitant who watches over students and makes sure that they do not abuse the rules. The RAs are also there to help students with personal matters should they arise.
Some dorm buildings talked about more favorably than others. Colbert Hall, for instance, which houses girls only, is one of the least favorites among students, mainly because it has community showers. The Avoca Apartments, on the other hand, are quite popular among upperclassmen. For those students who do not mind living with someone else, doubles and triples are available, and of course there are also singles for those who prefer to have a little more privacy. Whatever your choice may be, UIW has done its best to make sure that your campus housing experience will be a memorable one.
