UIW has a very diverse population, although the majority tends to be of Hispanic descent. There are many students from different cultures, and you will see many foreign students from places like Asia and the Middle East. As you walk around campus, you will most likely hear different languages being spoken. UIW is very good on keeping the campus diverse, with incoming international students every semester.
UIW is very welcoming to all students, regardless of color, race, sex (even though there are more women than men), economic status, or sexual orientation. Although UIW is a Catholic-based university, other religions are seen among the student population. It does not matter whether you are paying for school thanks to scholarships and grants, your parents, or a combination of both because in the end, students are admitted based on their academic merit. Overall, the student population tends to be open-minded.
