Before I begin, I should mention that the drinking scene here in the VI is very relaxed, our legal drinking age is 18, not 21. That being said, I don't typically see anyone actually drinking on campus, just the remnants of beer bottles in the back parking lots, and even that is pretty rare.
Drug use, however, is much more noticeable. There have been countless instances when I've walked by and seen people lighting up a joint in a back parking lot, or if I don't see it, I can smell it pretty strongly. No one seems particularly bothered by it, not even campus security, but again, we live in a very relaxed culture here in the VI, so I guess it comes with the territory.

There was never an incident concerning drugs and alcohol that hampered the safety of the University's students. You rarely see students taking part in such activities, unless you have an intimate relationship with those that do. The on-campus environment is healthy enough for non-smokers and non-drinkers. Those that do it, do it. If you don't that's okay! Policy enforcement is hands down the best.

Not as Serious – Most who take part in smoking marijuana are people who do not attend classes regularly, or do not attend the university. This semester the campus security is staying on top of those individuals to end all smoking activities.

Liming on Friday Night Is Populat – University students are always waiting for Friday night to lime. Most people like dancing and drinking at the bar a lot.
