Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The cafeterias on campus are located in the residence halls. If you live there, you must have a meal plan, but anyone can buy one if they want. The cafeteria food is OK, with quite a bit of repetition that gets old fast to the students at Utah. The ability to transfer meals with your food plan is a nice option, though, because you don’t have to eat every meal in the dorms.

There are two other options instead of the cafeterias, and they are the food court/restaurant-style eateries. One is located in the Business Building, and the other is known as The Point, located in the Huntsman Cancer Institute (for more information on The Point, see the off-campus restaurants section). The cafeteria at the Union Building is mediocre, but there’s a Chinese restaurant, a sandwich shop, Mexican food, and a Pizza Hut there, as well as options for vegetarians. Lots of people eat there because of its central location. There are also snack bars in the Annex and University Services Building. But if you can, pack a lunch because it's not cheap!

Pretty Good

The Heritage Center is mainly where residents eat. It can get monotonous, but they always have salad and usually sandwiches. There is also the Union foodcourt, which has pretty decent stuff - to go sandwiches and salads, normal salads, made to order sandwiches, Chinese, pizza, burgers, some speciality of the day. The Crimson Corner in the Union is really nice, and it accepts transfer meals.

Union Restaurant, Union Take-Out, Heritage Center Dining Hall

The Union Restaurant, although not a lot knows about it, it is a good place to be. The food isn't too bad and the service is pretty good. The Union take-out has delicious food, but it is always crowded. The Heritage Center Dining Hall is the worst place to be. First of all the food isn't pleasant. The staff were mean most of the time. I can recall only one guy was nice.

Variety

There are a variety of good options when getting food on campus. The main cafeteria for residence halls offer plenty of food from healthy to greasy. When your starving between classes the student union is a convenient place to grab almost any type of meal your in the mood for. Lastly, at the campus store you can transfer a meal in exchange for supplies. This is taken advantage of when your looking to snack or when the cafeterias are closed.
