Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The school has a zero-tolerance stance against alcohol, but generally you will not be thrown in jail if you are caught drinking. Drug problems at the U are minimal, but study drugs like Ritalin or Adderall seem to be popular. Most drug users who do partake do so in their off-campus apartments, and it is very rare to see any drug use on campus. One reason for this is that the opportunity for interaction between drug seller and drug buyer is greatly minimized by the "commuter effect." Also, with the large Mormon population found on campus, most people shy away from substance abuse; thus, the peer pressure is greatly reduced. However, some peer pressure exists for those living in the dorms.

Drinking

Drunkenness amongst particularly Asians and former Mormons was rather noticeable in comparison to other groups. Despite the fact university regulations stipulated a 'dry campus' environment the access to booze during weekends after studies never prevented anyone from the occasional buzz. Overall, alcohol abuse wasn't problematic to safety concerns or university policy.

Drugs/Alcohol Use= Party!!

When there are drugs and alcohol usage it usually happens at some kind of party. Whether its frat parties or not, parties are the most popular place to have alcohol and drugs. At these parties it can lead to underage drinking and people doing crazy thing that are usually pretty embarrassing. I'm sure there are drugs and alcohol other places on campus other than parties, but parties is the main place I think of.
