The school has a zero-tolerance stance against alcohol, but generally you will not be thrown in jail if you are caught drinking. Drug problems at the U are minimal, but study drugs like Ritalin or Adderall seem to be popular. Most drug users who do partake do so in their off-campus apartments, and it is very rare to see any drug use on campus. One reason for this is that the opportunity for interaction between drug seller and drug buyer is greatly minimized by the "commuter effect." Also, with the large Mormon population found on campus, most people shy away from substance abuse; thus, the peer pressure is greatly reduced. However, some peer pressure exists for those living in the dorms.
