Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The University of Utah is as safe a campus as you will find anywhere—period.  Even with its size, the U of U is not a place that you will find stalking predators waiting in the shadows. Of course, common sense should always be applied, but crime on campus is few and far between. The dorms’ security systems were built with Olympic athletes in mind, so they’re top-notch.

The most common crime committed at the University of Utah is theft of personal items. Students leave backpacks unattended, or employees leave their office doors unlocked, and then someone swipes their stuff. Keep an eye on your backpack at all times and lock the door behind you! This is common sense no matter where you go in life. If you're feeling worried about your safety, you can always call the campus police, and they will be more than happy to escort you to wherever you need to go.

Safety

Personally, I have never felt that my safety has been compromised at the University of Utah. Although, there was an e-mail that went out about some shady characters who have groped some women notifying us to keep our eyes peeled. I was grateful for the information and felt safer because of it.

Very Safe During the Day

There are plenty of emergency phones with bright blue buttons throughout campus. Common areas and parking lots are abundantly lit. However, some walking and building areas are completely dark and can be a little scary to navigate alone after sunset.
