Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are quite a few different choices for off-campus dining. The great thing about Salt Lake City is that it really isn't that big, but it still has the big-city dining options. There are restaurants throughout the city, some within just a few minutes from campus by car or foot. Others require a quick hop on TRAX to the downtown area. Downtown basically has any type of restaurant that anyone could desire.

Some of the more well-known restaurants located near the University are the Pie Pizzeria, B&D Burgers, Indochine Vietnamese Bistro, Market Street Grill (seafood), and the Point (which also serves pizza, muffins, pre-made food). However, with the robust size of campus, it isn't really practical to drive to a local restaurant and drive back. First off, you will never find a parking spot once you give yours up, and secondly, it would just take too much time to get into your car and drive to the restaurant and back. Most students either eat the food on campus by going to the Union building's cafeteria or they bring their own meals. It must be known that the food on campus is not cheap!

Eating Out

There are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to eating out for a quick meal at the University of Utah. Prices are great and the dining locations are within walking distances.

Places to Eat in Salt Lake

Salt Lake City is generally a pretty cheap place to live, and this definitely includes cost of food. There aren't any really fantastic places to go but I've never gone to a restaurant here that I disliked. It's a little inconvenient to go out if you don't have a car but it's manageable. Not many places give student discounts but it's cheap to eat here anyways. The Lion House Pantry and Cafe Rio are probably my favorite places to eat.
