Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The weather here is amazing . . . wait, no, it’s terrible . . . er, actually, the weather in Vermont is anything but predictable. That’s why most Vermonters will give you the age-old adage, “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.” This is a state where April showers often come in May, and winter doesn't appear in late December, but anywhere between October and Thanksgiving. As far as clothes go, come prepared. Vermont can have simply wonderful weather, but it can also quickly turn dismal. Think of living in a place with temperatures ranging from 15 degrees below zero—not including wind chill—up to the 90s, not accounting for humidity. And don’t forget to bring some sort of boot for snow.

Some students love it, some hate it, but in actuality, it is the whole of this love-hate relationship that describes student’s feelings about the weather. People who live to ski are thrilled that Vermont has some of the best in the east. Those who are into hiking appreciate the colorful splashes of leaves in the autumn and the vibrant flowers in spring. And for the rest who enjoy water sports, Vermont also has sweltering hot and humid summers. There is indeed a little taste of everything for everybody.

Very Cold

It's very cold and windy. During a normal winter there is also a lot of snow. It's great for the people who like to go skiing and snowboarding, but not so great for those of us that have to trek through the snow. Classes are kind of far from the dorms so it isn't exactly great having to walk in the biting cold and snow. When the weather gets warmer though, pretty much everyone is outside. You can almost always see a game or two of frisbee going on in the green.

Snow and Shine

During the Winter months it is very cold and tends to snow alot! Snow makes it difficult to bike to class and the walks can be long, so its a good idea to catch the campus bus. Even though its cold the snow is very pretty and lots of people love it for skiing. Whenever its not snowing its beautiful and most people like to get outside.

Snows Randomly

Vermont is freezing! It snows, rains, hails and sleets all of the time and since classes are far away from most campuses, it's hard to get to class without getting wet. It's great for skiing usually though.
