Most Popular Sports
When basketball is doing well, UVA students love football, basketball, lacrosse, and soccer (in that order). When the basketball team isn't doing so hot, UVA students love football, lacrosse, basketball, soccer (in that order).
School Spirit
UVA has great school spirit, especially at football and basketball games, where among other things you can find bodies spray-painted in orange and blue, girls dressed in their best pearls, and guys wearing orange bowties. Students at Virginia are incredibly proud of their school and like to go all-out for spirit events. In a school so thick with pride and tradition, there are plenty of opportunities to show support.
Getting Tickets
Students can get into any athletic event for free with their student ID. Everyone else must purchase tickets for the following sports during regular season: football, basketball (men's and women's), baseball, soccer (men's and women's), and lacrosse (men's and women's). There is also an admission charge for any ACC or NCAA championship events. The Virginia Athletic Ticket Office is located in Bryant Hall at the Carl Smith Center (off Stadium Road) and is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
