Safe Ride
A van escort service that runs after 12 a.m. that guarantees students a safe ride home, be it from the library or a frat party at 3 a.m. You must call ahead from wherever you are, and they come to your door. There is normally a bit of a wait for this service.
Taxi Cabs
There is a special arrangement that if a student is out at night and too intoxicated to drive home, he/she can take a cab for free and charge it to UVA.
UVA buses
There are UVA buses that run all over grounds for free. They come to each bus stop every 10 minutes during the weekdays and every 20 minutes over the weekends and at night. Check the Web site: www.virginia.edu/parking for a list of UVA bus schedules.
City buses
Also, there is a free trolley that runs from the UVA bus stops to the Downtown Mall every 15 minutes.
Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport
The airport is about 20-30 minutes from Grounds. It offers 60 daily non-stop flights to and from Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York/LaGuardia, Washington/Dulles, Cincinnati, and Atlanta. Because it is such a small airport, the airfare tends to be a bit pricey.
Greyhound
The Greyhound bus station is located on Main Street on the right before the Downtown Mall (10-15 minutes from grounds, depending on traffic).
Amtrak
The Amtrak train station is located off of Main Street on the right as you drive toward the Downtown Mall (10 minutes from grounds, depending on traffic).
