I think that people focus too much on football and it is difficult to become part of an intramural sport.

People seem nice who are part of greek life and they do not treat you differently even if you are not part of it.

You do not feel pressured to do any drugs or drink alcohol and you can never visibly see any other students doing it.

It is not in my building so it is annoying when it is raining to have to walk over to eat. Also, the eating times are kind of limited and everything is extremely over priced.

I love living on campus. It is easier to get to your classes and you are easily involved with other students.

Guys & Girls:
Students at my school typically dress in comfortable clothes to class. Some wear sweats, others wear shorts, and many of the girls wear leggings. Since my school is huge, guys and girls have many different interests which explains the diversity of fields on campus. It can be easy and difficult forming relationships with guys and girls on campus. It is easy in that everyone seems to be looking for a new relationship with other people, which makes communication less awkward. It is difficult in that if students do not get other students' contact information, it is hard to find them again in the swarm of students running to classes every day on campus.

With over forty thousand students (not including faculty), there is a diverse population of students. Acceptance rates come from all over the nation, but much acceptance comes from China. This explains the huge amount of Chinese international students walking all over campus. There is no challenge for ethnic/racial diversity whatsoever. I believe that many of these students come from different economic backgrounds with different political beliefs, religion, and sexual orientations. There are many clubs on campus that cater to everyone on campus.

On campus, there are plenty of computers to use at the libraries. Printing is paid by cents, and so many students find it inexpensive to print homework assignments on campus. There is always Wi-Fi wherever I go on campus, and so the wireless access is very reliable. When computer labs are full (in which they usually are), it is recommended to have a laptop or bring a laptop if students already have one in order to free up computers for students who do not own laptops.

I think that in terms of public transportation, there are plenty of options to reach to almost any destination students prefer. Most people prefer to walk, others ride their bikes to school. Since my school's campus is pretty big, having a bike is essential to get from one building to another building on the other side of campus. The cost for a bus pass is mandatory even if some students hardly use it which may be of inconvenience to those who do not use public transportation. Since many people live in areas pretty far, there is definitely a need for buses that go long-distance, and the UW offers it!

If students fill out the FAFSA, it should not be a problem obtaining financial aid, especially for those who have low income. I was offered a full tuition every year at my school, and so I did not have to pay a penny for my education (except for books). There are plenty of financial aid and scholarship options for students seeking to study abroad or paying for the rest of their tuition.

Health & Safety:
On campus, I always hear about some kind of robbery, whether it is out on the Ave or near the apartments where students live in by the campus. At night, especially when students are walking by themselves, it makes them more susceptible to robbery. One security measure that I have not used yet is walking with a security guard. At night time, students can call a campus security guard to escort them to places on campus. This is a great way for those who cannot walk with someone, but they need to get somewhere at night safely. Since I am a commuter, I am off campus around the times when robberies and confrontations occur, so I generally feel safe whenever I am on campus.

Since the University of Washington main campus is located in Seattle, plenty of rain and cold is expected on campus. Every day, even if the weather anchors say it will not rain, I always have an umbrella in my backpack in the case of unexpected downpour if rain. During the fall and winter, the weather is usually cloudy as well, which affects the mood of many students. This does not only apply to me, but when the weather is cloudy and gloomy, the whole campus is dressed in dark colors. I think that if Seattle had more sunnier weathers, many students would look more awake and happier, but then many would not attend class because it is beautiful outside.

I do not drive to school much, so I do not necessarily know from experience the parking situation at my school. However, I have heard from several of my friends who drive their cars to school have a difficult time with parking. Unless they have a paid permit, it is difficult to find parking. In addition, it is very expensive to park their car in the garages, unless they have two other buddies to carpool with them. The problem with this is not everyone will go to and leave campus at the same time, and so carpooling would be tough. Parking spaces fill up fast since there are over forty thousand students on campus every day.

My overall experience at the University of Washington has been an okay experience. For a couple of years, I was not sure what I wanted to study, and my advisers informed me on some things that were misleading when it came to completing some prerequisites for a certain degree I had intended to pursue. Besides this, one of my favorite experiences at the UW was meeting all kinds of people from my classes and my work place on campus. My school is unique in that some of our lectures are HUGE (400+ people in one class!). If I could do college all over, I would have still chosen UW because this school provides me with so many resources and help that facilitates all areas of study.

At the University of Washington, there are many off-campus dining options to choose from. There are all kinds of cuisine, including but not limited to Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, and Indian cuisine. The costs for the food are generally inexpensive, and are conveniently located a few blocks from campus. On special days such as the anniversary of the University of Washington, many of these restaurants include student discounts if they wear purple.

I have not had an internship before, but I do plan to have one. I believe that it is one of the best ways to gain experience in the field that interests me, and it would be very appealing to future employers on a resume. I am not concerned about finding an internship as my intended major includes an internship as a requirement for degree completion.
