Tully's Coffee is served in 21 espresso cafés/ bars on campus. If you're on North Campus, try Parnassus in the art building. On South Campus? Check out the H-Bar in the physics and astronomy building. Somewhere in the middle? Suzzallo Espresso, near the entrance to Suzzallo Library is a great option. Even small or older buildings without built-in coffee stops have small espresso bars where you can grab a bagel and a caffeinated treat.
Movie Theater on Campus
Yes, the quarterly movie series takes place in the HUB Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the HUB Ticket Office on the day of the show beginning at 8 a.m. Many times, these are double-features, so you get to watch two movies for around $3!
School Slang
  • The Ave.: University Avenue.
  • By George: The dining facility right by the George Washington statue.
  • Cluster: A group of dorm rooms sectioned off in their own space with their own bathroom.
  • The Cut: The part of Lake Washington under the Montlake Bridge.
  • The Fountain: Drumheller Fountain.
  • Frat Row or Greek Row: 17th, the main drag of the Greek system.
  • George: The statue of George Washington right between Meany Hall and By George
  • The Husky Den: Where everybody goes for lunch.
  • IMA: Intramural Athletic Center.
  • The Mountain: Mt. Rainier, the one you can see from the fountain.
  • The Quad: The pretty rectangular area with brick buildings and a lawn with cherry trees on it.
  • Red Square: The big brick square with Kane and Suzzallo. It's slippery when it rains.
Traditions
  • The Boat Races: Many students often come out to the Montlake Cut on Lake Washington for the first crew races of the season.
  • Drumheller Fountain: After Drumheller Fountain (the big fountain on campus usually filled with bird dung and other filth) gets cleaned periodically, students often go for a late-night swim and take advantage of the rare cleanliness.

Browse job opportunities at the Center for Career Services located in Mary Gates Hall, browse through the University Bookstore, catch up on reading at one of the many libraries on campus, enjoy the rose garden near Drumheller Fountain, exercise or play sports at the IMA, go to the Henry Art Gallery or the Burke Museum, grab a coffee and read the Daily outside, grab lunch at By George or the HUB, lounge in the Quad on a sunny day, play a game of pool in the HUB Games Area, take a tour of campus, visit the Gateway Center in Mary Gates Hall and speak to an academic advisor Spring quarter at the UW is the reason why students tolerate the rain during fall and winter quarters. Studying or lounging in the Quad when the cherry blossoms are in full-bloom is a highlight for most students. Grabbing lunch at the Husky Den with a friend, or wandering through the Henry Art Gallery are both great options. If you're trying to exercise a bit, swim laps at the IMA or play basketball, volleyball, or football on or near Denny Field.
