Advice

  • Get in contact with the Center for Career Services. Make friends with a counselor there so that you can have someone to go to when you have questions or concerns. If you want to really go the distance, attend workshops at the Undergraduate Workshops Center, take the interest tests offered at the Student Counseling Center, and learn outside the classroom. Both the Gateway Center and the Center for Career Services have information about student internships and volunteer possibilities to ease you into the real world. When you declare a major, your UW e-mail will be added to the list-serve for your major, and you'll get lots of e-mails about internship or student-employment opportunities. The Daily is also a great place to check out the internship and job opportunities on and around campus.
