College Prowler Take
Again, UW’s size is the defining factor here. If you’re looking for hot guys and girls, they are definitely to be found on campus, and many believe they are concentrated in the Greek population. Likewise, if you’re attracted to athletes, hippies, stoners, skaters, ravers, whatever, UW pretty much has it all. The dating scene varies from group to group, but perhaps one trend is that underclassmen are more likely than upperclassmen to be single. Underclassmen are more likely to stay single and have casual hookups, whereas upperclassmen are more likely to be in a meaningful—or at the very least, exclusive—relationship. Toward the tail-end of college, a lot more people seem to pair off. UW has a happy medium between the more materialistic Southern California brand of guys and girls and a more hippie, laid-back type that some of the schools in Eastern Washington tend to attract. You won’t confuse campus for Hollywood or Malibu, but there are definitely plenty of attractive people of both sexes. And if you go to some parties, hang out at some popular places on campus, and maybe do some heavy lifting or jogging on the treadmill at the IMA, you’re bound to run into them one way or another.

The guys and girls are very mixed. The sorority girls, in general, dress and act seductively, and you can always pick them out on campus in their short skirts and flip flops. Then, there are misplaced sorority girls that somehow ended up in the dorms but have the same qualities as a sorority girl. However, some girls in the Greek system can be very cool and not elitist and self centered. Dorm girls and off-campus girls tend to be more laid-back. The Greek system is for those whose best years in life will always be high school. |

The campus, overall, has an attractive student body, but for a public school, there are more stuck-up and superficial people than I would have expected. |

With 40,000 people going to UW, there are plenty of hot guys and plenty of hot girls. Campus has a laid-back atmosphere, so it’s not necessarily as centered on looking good for class. There are a lot of hot Greeks, but they’re pretty boys. I wouldn’t say that the hot people are only in the Greek system or only athletes or anything like that. Hot people are just kind of scattered throughout campus in groups. |

I think it’s pretty equal. I bet that most of the hot guys and girls are Greek. However, some frat guys are pretty immature, and I know certain guys think that sorority girls are too easy. The guys and girls are no different than from where I grew up. There’s a mix of good-looking guys and girls and people that are just normal. There really aren’t that many bad-looking people though. There were a lot of hot guys in the dorms last year, and I was constantly running into them when I was wearing my PJs and totally hung over, but oh well, that’s how it works, I guess! |

Okay, the Greek system does have most of the hot girls; It’s a plain and simple fact. I don’t know about the guys, but fraternity members come in all shapes in sizes. UW guys tend to be a bit preppy, and many are metrosexuals. It is such a huge school that I’m sure there’s somebody for everyone. There is no lack of hot girls, that’s for sure. |
FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - Female students who have had a prescription for birth control filled out by a doctor can have it filled at Hall Health. Hall Health has most of the oral contraceptives on the market, the ring, the patch, injectable contraceptives, and condoms.
Social Scene
The social scene is really active at UW. Depending on what you like to do, there are ample opportunities to go out and drink or stay in and invite people over. Get a group of friends and start a Grey’s Anatomy party every week, or find a frat party you’ve never been to. Because the campus is so big and there are so many students who live in the area, it’s not hard to find something to do——at least on Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights!
Hookups or Relationships?
There’s a good mixture of relationship statuses at UW. Lots of students are in long-term relationships, and you’ll frequently see couples walking around campus holding hands or lounging together in the Quad. At the same time, there are plenty of single students available for non-committed fun and/or dating.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Going out on the Ave (if you’re 21+) is a great way to meet new people. There are a lot of different types of bars so no matter what you’re into (dancing, pool, trivia competitions), and there are plenty of opportunities to talk to people. For underage students, house/frat parties are a good bet since lots of people pass through. Although the campus is big, sometimes you can be surprised how many people are connected and have friends in common. Strike up a conversation with someone at a party——oftentimes you both know the host, or you have the same major or residence hall.
Dress Code
For the most part, UW students dress very casually on campus. To stay warm and comfortable, guys and girls sport Northface jackets and jeans for the majority of the year. Only some brave souls wear heels to class, but most girls choose sneakers or UGGs. Most students carry an umbrella in their backpacks at all times because no one ever knows when the rain will start flowing. At night, girls will dress up a bit more, but in general, the guys look the same.
