As a freshman, middle-class, out of state student, I applied for financial aid but received none. I was only given a few student loans through the school which meant i had to take out other private loans to pay for the rest of the tuition. They say there are more opportunities for scholarship as you get further into your education, but that may take awhile.

I did not receive financial aid from my school, you have to have a very low amount of income in order to get any or you have to play a sport.

If students fill out the FAFSA, it should not be a problem obtaining financial aid, especially for those who have low income. I was offered a full tuition every year at my school, and so I did not have to pay a penny for my education (except for books). There are plenty of financial aid and scholarship options for students seeking to study abroad or paying for the rest of their tuition.
