As a northern Wisconsin city, it's not surprising that there is not much diversity on campus. To be fair, UWSP does have a very comprehensive recruitment program to create a more racially diverse atmosphere. However, what it boils down to is that (overall) this is a very right-wing, white, Christian campus. I am glad that there are student organizations that aim to balance this homogeneity. Black Student Union and Latino Student Alliance do have a notable presence in campus life. Native American groups hold some sway in the balance as well. In my program, it is even less diverse. The College of Natural Resources is very backwoods Caucasian dominated. It gives us the "hook-and-bullet" label that I have heard thrown around lately. I'm the secretary of Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences, and we constantly struggle with recruitment for our organization.
