When a Stout student walks across the stage during their commencement ceremony they are filled with emotions and memories; feelings of excitement about their future and sadness for a journey coming to an end. They sit in an auditorium filled with their classmates, looking back at the fine education they received, the good times they had and the opportunities that lie ahead.
More than anything, UW-Stout provides opportunity and community. Once you set your roots at Stout, you’ll never want to leave. The perfect size student body allows students to build a community of friends that last a lifetime. The community is built in the classroom between a class and the instructor, in the residence halls between residents, at an on campus job between coworkers, and between teammates on an intramural team.
Stout provides a world of opportunity in an out of the classroom. Students have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with their professors, to start and lead their own campus organization, to take their education abroad, to manage a restaurant on campus, to challenge yourself, to apply the theory, to reach new heights on the climbing wall and to make decisions for the entire campus by participating in student government. The opportunities that students take advantage of at Stout will lead to even greater opportunities after graduation.
Attending UW-Stout is not just an education, it is an experience. It’s the textbook rental, the parking tickets you received, the laptop program, the awesome Stout Adventures trip that you went on your junior year, the accounting class you took with professor Murphy, the rugby club you joined, the test you failed, the homecoming memories, the Thursday nights you don’t remember, the friends you made, and the Grandwiches at the Heritage Café that make up the experience. The overall student experience at UW-Stout is tremendous. It’s an experience that you’ll remember forever.
