Students will need either a parking permit or a pocket full of quarters to park near or on campus. The permit is affordable, and once students have a permit, they are guaranteed a parking space. Parking meters are found in University lots and on Menomonie streets. However, students should be advised that parking at meters does add up, and parking tickets for expired meters add up even faster. The University Parking Services at Stout and Menomonie's meter lady are always just around the corner, ready to give students a ticket.
Parking on weekends and during the evenings is much easier. Parking on Saturday and Sunday and after four in the afternoon during the week is free in some lots on campus and at most city meters. In addition, during these times, students will often find a closer spot. In general, students should pay close attention to posted signs for each parking lot and meter limits.
