This is a big 10 school, therefore sports are a huge part of the school. If people are not participating in sports themselves, they are definitely watching them.

Madison has such a diverse population and vibrant community that there are so many different choices to pick from! Finding an ethnic restaurant that you've never tried or a cosy nook of a cafe is extremely easy.

The alcohol scene at the University of Wisconsin is huge. Drugs aren't as noticeable, but you can still find them. Drinking is done by pretty much everyone, but people won't care if you don't want to participate.

I have had no trouble with the financial aid process. There is a central financial aid office that helps you with any questions you have or problems you experience. Online you can easily accept or decline scholarships/federal aid/awards/grants. Talk to your financial aid advisor about applying for financial aid, or visit the financial aid website to find out more about how to apply.

There is a lot of drinking and partying around, but it's usually not a bother unless you live right on State Street and are a light sleeper. Campus Police are great, I feel really safe around here. When it comes to marijuana, Madison is pretty lax about possession and use. There is even one day a year where everyone goes and promotes legalization of it, and they all go to Bascom Hill and smoke up in public. Police usually allow it as long as nobody wanders around and walks down the street smoking and flaunting their weed. Pretty much, the weed scene here is harmless and if you get caught you'll just be faced with a fine. There has been increased heroine use on campus the last year, but nobody really comes into contact with that unless you know the right people. I've never known anyone to witness use or see evidence of it. The police are really focused on cracking down on that, though. Overall, Madison is a really safe city in terms of drugs, mostly the college students are interested in partying and drinking.

Party Hard, Study Hard, Exciting Programs and Memorable Experiences! We have academic programs led by staff that are making breakthrough in their fields! Exciting to study here as well as to party here - UW-Madison was a top party school only a few years ago, and they're still going strong. We party hard and we study hard! Campus life is amazing, everyone who went to UW-Madison stays a Badger for life! I also have to say that it's very, very true that although on other campuses, students want to go home on weekends or during break, but here in Madison everyone loves to stay here and live the Madison life! It's hard to leave it. That's why Madison was named the "most educated city in the US", because graduates often stay and end up living and working in Madison. It's such a great city and campus. Extracurricular activities are everywhere - from cinema and theater for students, annual events, study parties to free tutoring, we have it all!

The dining halls at the University that are meant to serve students, especially those living in the dorms, have wonderful food options. There is a rotating menu with healthy items, and always vegetarian options. Otherwise there are plenty of budget-friendly restaurants nearby that appeal to students here.

Pretty good choices for off campus housing, but the price is jacked up the closer to campus that you get because they know they can get the money for it.

Best academics, very hard, stay on top of your game, teachers will not help you, TA's are your best friends, they are the only ones that have the time or need to help you.

Dorms are small but it is worth living in them as a freshman to make the friends and have the experience.

I know some sorority girls that are very nice and treat the girls in their sorority as family. They are there for each other and are also great campus resources, especially for networking and help with academics. Fraternities, however, seem more like the places to party, and not good places either. Drugs, dirt and alcohol are everywhere.

I have never seen so many different ethnic restaurants all centered in one area- State Street. There's Turkish, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Mediterranean, Afghan, Tibetan, and of course, traditional restaurants like Buffalo Wild Wings, Chipotle, Einstein Bro. Bagels, and campus favorites that serve the works. It's not hard to find a place to eat that doesn't involve dorm food...the hardest is part is just choosing where to eat!

I would say that our campus is not anywhere near strict. Yes, there are police cars everywhere throughout campus and the State Street area, but I have yet to see a cop in them? Also, there are many underage drinkers on campus, yet no punishments seem to be enforced. The house fellows are pretty chill about it unless there is like a HUGE disturbance going on. I have yet to hear of or see anyone getting a ticket from the police or sent to detox. For me, it's a bad thing seeing so much alcohol and drugs without punishment, but whatever.

Great school for a variety of majors, looking for more additions in the genders and women's studies departments.

UW-Madison offers an abundance of extra curricular activities along with many clubs for all types of people. The university makes its students aware of all of these opportunities throughout the year and encourages its students to participate in any way possible with the community.

Excellent School If You're a Sports Person – Our football team is awesome, obviously. Rose bowl two years in a row? Hell yeah. Even though we didn't win, making it is just above all other schools amazing. Also good in basketball and hockey. School spirit? State Street is always filled with red. And Bucky badger is always at events supporting the students. There are two facilities, one on each end of campus and also a separate facility for athletes.

Lienant Punishments – Personally I've never got caught for anything (drug use, underage drinking etc, fighting) but maybe I was just discreet? Any who there are tons of underage drinkers here an lots of people who use drugs. I do know that if you plagiarize you will definitely get in trouble if caught. UW uses a anti plagiarizing system, so do your own work!

They try to say the university is diverse, and I guess if you're from a small town with a homogenous population you would think it is diverse. There are a good amount of international students but still, the amount of minorities vs. Caucasian outweighs that. It's just a white school with some specs here and there. But there are a lot of different perspectives, religions etc. if that makes any difference.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
