Professors Help With Hands on Experiences – A professor I didn't know helped me join a volunteer trip to New Orleans. They got me connected to a whole new network of people with similar interests.

A Lot of Work for Not That Much Money – All I received were loans which wasn't worth all the trouble I went through. We had to call the office multiple times because they lost my forms or got it wrong.

Best Bars in Big 10 – Madison lives up to its name for a great party school with State Street loaded with people most every night. A fake ID is not nessessary for freshman year but is very helpful and becomes a near requirement from there on out. With dozens of bars and plenty of good deals, Madsion will quench your thirst for beer and parties.

Engineering Diffucult but Managable. I will be a sophmore in the fall majoring in chemical engineering so up until this point I have run the gauntlet of large lecture classes. My most important advice is to transfer as much credit as you can to the school. The course loads become unmanagable if you don't transfer at least 10-15 credits into the program. So if you have no job prospects for a summer, go to your community college and take as much as you can to transfer. (Your conselor will help you with the details.) Either work full time or be a full time student year round in order to graduate engineering in 4 years.

So Many Apartments! Madison was built to be a college town, and because of that, there is always a lot of housing, and it is diverse, too. There are blocks of apartments, houses, frats, and other places to stay during your time here, all within a good distance from school.

Check Out State Street – State Street has the best food in the world, with lots of the Sate Street culture to go with it. State Street has everything from Brats to Pizzas, subs, Five Guys burgers, ethnic foods, Hawk's Bar, Paul's Club, and more! Capitol Square also boasts some hot ticket places, with my favorite being the Old Fashioned.

Buses Are the Way to Go – Public Transportation is really good around Madison. Buses run until the very early mornings, and they have frequent stop schedules. Bikes are also a great way to get around, seeing as Madison is one of the top "bike-friendly" cities in the nation. There is also SafeServices, which features a SafeWalk, SafeRide, and SafeBus system which runs late at night and can come get you wherever you need to be picked up, for free!

One Application – It is nice that the Scholarships@UWMadison program only requires one application, but you are not guaranteed anything

Good, Cheap – There isn't a huge variety, but madison is a decent sized city, and if you venture up to the capital, there are significantly more options. Right on campus, however, you can find lots of pretty good food at cheap prices, perfect for a college student.

The winter can be pretty brutal, but it's reputation is still worse than the reality. This winter in particular wasn't that bad. The summers are gorgeous and manage to make up for it.

UW-madison, both the city and the school, are incredible places that give an experience like no other. I couldn't be happier with my choice, and I would recommend the school to anyone I know without a second's hesitation.

Somewhat Tough – The police can be strict on underage drinking, but for the most part, if you're not an idiot about it you'll be fine. I went out 2 to 3 times a week and never got an underage, so it is possible.

Guys & Girls:
Smokin Hot Women and Most Guys Are Cool – Everytime I walk from class to class I sometimes cannot help but have a head turn because it seems that the most beautiful woman is walking towards you and how could another be better than her, but sure enough more head turning will occur. So many women and they are so very attractive in their own ways. Great school for that!

There Are Quite a Few Greeks – Being part of the Greek Life would be great, but it's not easy to get into. The pledges need to live in the house they're pledging to for a week and have several ritual type activities that they must participate in prior to being part of the sorority or fraternity.

Relatively Smooth – There are a Bursor's Office and a Financial Aid office which take care of financial aid given to students. If a students financial aid exceeds the amount due for a semester they will mail you the remaining portion via a check.

If Looking for Competition, You're in the Correct Place – I am attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison. This school is a great place to earn an education and it isn't made easy. Many thousands of students are all here attempting to do their best and because of that competition comes in most every aspect of college life.

Amazing Location for an Education – UW-Madison is a great university and has many great apportunites for people of all diversities. The reason it did not receive an A or A+ is because some of the teaching staff in certain departments is dominated by foreigners who do not speak English as their first language and they do not speak English very well at that. Being unable to understand the professor or teaching assistant makes the course extremely difficult. Other than that, UW-Madison is perfect for one and all. I, for example, grew up in a town of less than 300 people. Madison was a bit of a transition, but I went to the lakeshore dorms and those were slower pace than South East dorms near the capitol and so it made the transition easier.

Diverse but Not as Much as You Would Think. Madison has a lot of white students and a lot of asian students. Besides that there is not to much of a mix, especially for the largeness of the school.

The Best Decision I Ever Made. This school has everything you could possibly want. You have the city atmosphere and the lake side atmosphere. There's oodles of things to do just on state street, not to mention from langdon to mifflin. Not to mention you haven't lived until you've jumped around and a Badger football game. Great school, and the best decision I ever made.

A Taste of UW - Madison – UW - Madison has a friendly, fairly diverse campus. The buildings are spread out, but personally, I love walking to class! Although we're in the capital city, there are many flower beds, gardens, green spaces such as the famous Bascom hill, and big lakes. State street and the farmer's market around capital square are also major attractions. Lakeshore path and picnic point provide a way to escape the city for awhile. The architecture of the campus buildings is beautiful. We have a good mix of older, historic buildings and very new, modern ones. Speaking of which, there has been a lot of construction lately, and although this can be frustrating, the final products are amazing! There are tons of libraries around (30 some?) but I love more original study spaces, like the Discovery building, with its many waterfalls, indoor trees and coffee shop. The unions are also major attractions, with the terrace and its famous chairs at memorial union and the rock climbing wall and bowling alley at the new union south. There is too much to describe without experiencing it for yourself, but hopefully I've given you a taste!

The University of Wisconsin Marinette is a small, local two-year college. It has a small hometown atmosphere. The best part was being able to live at home my first two years. It really saved me a lot of money and I was able to complete mandatory classes.

Walking down State Street just off campus from Madison one finds a lot of diversity in the great variety of ethnic restaurants/trailers and the many different stores and local shops. People play music on the street. There are several venues to watch musical performances including the Union's theater, Madison Overture Center for the Arts, The Orpheum, and The Majestic. Famous bands stop in Madison for shows. The Overture Center puts on famous musicals that are top quality.

Wifi is available all over but sometimes the Resnet internet service is very frustrating. Overall, it hardly ever has problems, but when it does it is incredibly inconvenient. Computers are available all over, and they work very well. Printing is also available. The network is usually very speedy although it slows a bit when many people are on it at night.

Greatest School for Undergraduate Work – I love it in Madison. It is a great research university and very prestigious because of that, especially because it is a public university. The sports here are amazing, and the marching band is the best in the country.

Great Party School – UW Madison has many parties, especially on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The city really wakes up at night. Buses stay running late so one can ride back home. Also, there are several taxi services like Saferide which aid students in returning home safely.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
