the cost for a permit is free and they provide many parking space that includes space across the street at a bowling alley.

Bus Pass Included – I really love that the buss passes are included in the student fees. Since they are at a discount rate we don't have to buy the normal passes. You can pretty much get anywhere on the bus. It is sometimes frustrating that it is so hard to keep a car on campus though. I would like one, but it would be too pricey.

No Meal Plan – I really like that the campus doesn't have a meal plan. The campus run dining facilities are ok, but sometimes the food isn't the best. Also the amount of food you get depends on who is working that day, which isn't good. I know they try to fix that, but it can be annoying when you are used to getting a good amount of food then one day you get hardly anything but are still charged the same price. Other places off campus are excellent.

I really like the libraries at UW-Madison. There are many many libraries to choose from and the less known the library, the better the study spots! The more popular libraries are ok to go to during the mornings and sporting events, but otherwise they are full of talkative people who are just there to gossip/ flirt.

There are basically no free parking lots available. That means either paying $100 per month to buy private parking, or using no vehicle, which is what most students do.

Great Selection – With state street just a short walk away, and dozens of restaurants with food delivery, any meal is possible! There are a variety of cuisines to choose from at very reasonable prices.

Great Sports Town – Madison is a friendly town full of avid sports fans. Whether its football, hockey, basketball, cross country, or rowing, students at the University of Wisconsin - Madison fully back our teams. Win or lose, we know we'll be at the next home match-up to watch our team compete.

Not Strict at All – As long as you're not disturbing others, it's not their problem. Be responsible, make good choices, and the school/police will give you the benefit of the doubt

Not Too Picky – Never been that picky when it comes to food. Love Fresh Market grocery store. Right of campus, and usually buy most of my food there.

Health & Safety:
Never Felt in Harms Way – I've been out pretty late at night and I've never felt unsafe before. Just use common sense, stick with friends, keep your wits about you, and I've never heard of anyone having problems.

Have not been on campus very much yet, but when i did go I did see a few different ethnics backgrounds.

Just in the starting point of college, getting all the basics down to begin a new life. The starting progress is simple and clear and is very helpful on letting me know what needs to get done.

Work Hard, Play Hard – UW is the the greatest place on earth. I never could have I my wildest dreams imagined the social life that I have now. Between crazy big 10 football games, Mifflin, and just the week to week parties, its the greatest time of my life. And on top of that, you can have the best education. We party hard, but we also study hard.

The UW campus is in such a beautiful area and being surrounded by 2 lakes makes you wish for good weather even more so. Madison has beautiful summers and everyone is constantly outside. However, the winters can get a little treacherous with the amount of snow that we usually get. Its bearable ( not to mention fun to play in) and classes get cancelled for it sometimes, so overall, snow is not that much of a problem.

No 2 People Are the Same – There are so many different races, religions and ethnicities at UW. It really is incredible to see the diversity walking through campus. There are people from all over the world with all types of different backgrounds. Due to the incredible diversity, stereotypes seem to fade away. You can't judge a particular group of people because of the diversity even within that group of people.

I find it really difficult to find scholarships that UW-Madison offers. They don't really advertise them and you have to search frequently to find any that you could possibly apply for.

At UW-Madison there are tons of different races in every aspect of the university- dorms, classes, professors, social activities etc. It is a very liberal city and I have never seen any issues where people feel uncomfortable or not accepted.

The classes for Undergrads are very big and lecture halls are often over 300 students. Most of the professors I have had are interesting and really know their material. It is fun getting to be taught by world renowned professors, but sometimes they are hard to approach. Classes are challenging, but if you put in the time it is possible to get good grades.

It is fairly easy to find off-campus housing, but apartments and houses can be expensive. Lucky apartments are sometimes $900 a month per person, which is ridiculous. If one wants cheap off-campus housing, they can find it, and the more people they live with the cheaper it will be. The apartments send tons of mail starting in October, and people freak out and try to get an apartment in November (which you don't need to do). Overall, off-campus housing is available and can be very affordable if you choose the right place.

Be Wise – Police are friendly, but they can't catch everyone for underage drinking. However, many people do end up going to detox, and it is not uncommon to see police sending people to detox over the weekend, at football games, etc. Drink, but be smart and not stupid about it!

Good, but Gets Boring – The food that the University of Wisconsin Madison offers is some of the best university food I have ever tasted. With dorms on two different sides of campus, (Southeast more towards the city, and Lakeshore being close to the lake), there are dining halls that accommodate whatever dorm you decide to live in. Not to mention there are some dining halls connected with certain dorms. There is also a place called Carson's which delivers which is very nice. Also, there are several places where if you are running late to class you can buy something to eat. As a Freshman, dining hall food tends to get old really easily, but it's up to you if you want to continue to have a meal plan after freshman year.

The athletics at Madison are a huge part of the school. They contribute greatly to the exciting atmosphere of the city. The huge fan base makes you feel apart of such a large school.

Atmosphere of Madison, WI – I absolutely love the atmosphere of Madison. There are plenty of different activities, events, and organizations to become involved with. The entire city feels very welcomming. I love this city and university.

Its What You Make of It – The university website provides easy ways to find scholarships that work for you. There are tons online and advisors are great about helping steer you in the right direction.

Easy Peasy – Campus is huge, but you get used to walking to class quite quickly. Also, there are bike lanes everywhere and the bus system is easy to navigate as well. For long distance journeys, there are busses like the mega bus and the badger bus that take students to other campuses/cities for fairly low rates!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
