Many Options – There are tons of options of getting around Madison. For one theres the amazing bus lines that run almost 24/7. Campus is huge but you can get about anywhere by walking, biking, or bus. Buses are free for students and are the main form of transportation. There is also the SAFE ride/walk program for those students who need help getting back to campus late at night.

Guys & Girls:
Wide Variey – On campus you can find any type of person you could imagine. There is no shortage of attractive guys and girls which is kind of amazing when you think of all the different ways that people are attracted to one another. Anyone can find someone here, be it the hot athlete or the cute geek next door, the high maintenance girls to the low-key hippies.

Dont Ask Dont Tell – The police force here are not strict unless they catch one person walking down the street with a beer. But that is most of the time the persons own fault for not thinking. As long as you keep your head down and dont make an idiot of yourself, your golden.

There are a lot of very nice Greek communities out there. The most well known are the frats here. Most are ok but some of them are not the best people to hang out with. Stay away from frats in madison unless you know the people well.

Madison is one of the friendliest colleges I have been to. You can walk down the street and get a smile from most people you pass, as long as they are not even in a hurry. But even then, they'll sometimes smile. There is always something to do, with the new Union South opening recently there are pool tables and bowling allies, and even a movie theater. If US is too crowded you can go to Union North where you can sit outside on a nice warm day and listen to live music while enjoying the lake breeze. Apart from that, the academics here are wonderful. Yes its hard but yes its worth it. A degree from Wisconsin is well known and sought after amongst the employees out there today.

Guys & Girls:
Coasties Galor – There are an excessive amount of coasties at this school who love dressing in the most obnoxious ways possible - leggings and short t-shirts. and then they have the nerve to complain about being cold. how about you put on some clothes?

I have never lived on campus at my university for one reason: COST. My freshman year I lived in one of the most expensive apartment complexes just off campus, and it still cost less than what my friends who were staying in the dorms were paying. Yikes!

Awesome Advisors! I came into this university with absolutely no idea what I wanted to major in - well, that's not exactly true, I just wanted to major in everything. The cross-college advising staff was excellent. They really helped me narrow down the fields that I wanted to go into while still managing to get general education credits out of the way. Now, with two declared majors, I feel ready to tackle my last two years here!

The overall experience that I have had at UW-Madison has been wonderful. I love everything about the campus and the university because it has been the best of all worlds.

The facilities at UW-Madison are beautiful. There are many new building on campus always appearing and they make for very good studying locations. Also, the buildings are clean and safe and within a good walking distance.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on Madison's campus. There is always numberous people walking around at any time during the day. Also, there are many options, like safewalk, safebus, and saferide to make sure that you arrive safely to your destination if you are traveling alone.

Depends on the Sport – Being a student athlete, I experienced this part of campus life firsthand. Some sports have much more fan support than others. Basketball and football are the most popular fan sports. The rest dont get nearly as much attention.

Not a Whole of Options – There aren't a lot of off campus dining options, besides the fast food varieties, there is not a wide range of choices. Although there is not a large range of places, there are a few places that are great to check out. Guu's is a really good bar to check out, great food and a fun atmosphere. Also, gyro and kabobs has great food. Both have great food with vegetartian option and reasonable prices.

Social Life & Opportunities for Involvement – The social life at Madison is great. There is something for everyone. While there are a good amount of students in sororities/fraternities, there are still tons of social activities, parties, and ways to make new friends for those who don't participate in Greek life. Our selection of student organizations and clubs is outstanding - there is literally something for EVERYBODY so its really easy to get involved and meet people with common interests.

Multicultural! Accepting Environment. Madison is diverse in ethnicity and culture. There are tons of international students and a fair portion of minorities. Madison is a very liberal city and very accepting of various sexual orientations. However, there are a diverse range of political beliefs among students and political advocacy is very widespread here.

Crowded During Tests, but Good Wireless Internet – Libraries have computers available to use. However, these areas can get pretty crowded during midterms and finals, and sometimes there aren't any available, so it is best to have your own laptop. Wireless internet in the libraries is very fast!

snows a lot but campus is usually efficient with snow removal so there hardly any days missed

Houses V. Apartments – I lived in an apartment last year and it was really nice and conveniently located but pretty pricey. Now I live in a house a couple blocks farther away but it is a lot cheaper. My landlord is super laidback and willing to help with any issues we may be having.

Pretty Decent – Almost anything you could really want. The food is really good but you get sick of your favorites every now and then.

Drug Scene? I don't know too much about it. Were a big drinking school, but it Wisconsin, the number 1 binge drinking state. BUT that's not everything. Our Students Party hard because they Work hard during the week. Football in the fall brings this out the most.
Recent Alumnus 2011-02-21T15:37:36Z
Bars and Parties – There is always something to do. State Street has over 20 bars to choose from. They are all 21 and up, but some are more lax then others... With off-campus student housing so close, there is always a place to go before the bar, after the bar, or if you don't want to go to the bar and hang out and have a few drinks. If you aren't a big drinker, there are PLENTY of free actiities at the Union and tons of events every weekend around campus.

Guys & Girls:
Average Student – There is no such thing as an average student at the University of Wisconsin. There are individuals from almost every state and many countries, from all different back, and of all ages. There is a good amount of people from Wisconsin, but since it is a high ranked school with a good education, there are also "Coasties". Everyone has a place to fit in with over 150 student organizations and clubs. No matter who you are, there will be people for you, places for you, and a major for you. Plus, there are a decent amount of good looking people ready to have a fun time once the week is over.

I live off-campus but I do take advantage of the many eateries that are available on campus. They have a nice variety at an affordable price.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
