I only had it a couple of times but it was decent and fortuatnely not expensive. However you have to pay a fee if you don't live in the dorms.

Good dorms, good housing on campus and good deals.

If you're on campus, there's a bus which circles campus every eight minutes or so. You can get to anywhere on campus within 20 minutes once you learn the bus system, and while they can get rather packed, the buses are clean and safe. Getting to campus is also relatively simple, depending on where you are and what options you have for alternative transportation. Parking on campus, while plentiful, is rather ludicrously expensive. Best to park on a busline and bus in. Fortunately, nearly every bus in Madison goes to or near campus.

There are constant campus events going on, from live music at the student unions to art showings at the Elvejem. Since the university is also situated in the downtown state capital, there is great exposure to local, city, and state politics, and consequent learning opportunities. We've got some of the best biological science facilities in the world, and a nuclear engineering program with functioning reactor here. There are constant symposiums for high level academics, and we're right up against Madison's gorgeous Lake Mendota. Combine all of this with the expense of a state school, and you've got a college experience which can rarely be matched.

The facilities that are available are largely excellent. There is a brand new student union, Union South, which is enormous and a real center of student interaction, being near to several key buildings. The Natatorium persists in being an excellent athletic facility, and libraries are dotted liberally around campus, usually near to the buildings which host their associated classes. There's a gorgeous garden which leads up Bascom Hill from University Avenue, which is a sheer pleasure to walk through when climbing the hill.
The only real problem is the current renovations going on in Library Mall. While I have no doubt the results will be excellent, as it stands, they constitute an assault on the eye, nose, and ears of students passing through the university's main thoroughfare. Further, they make it difficult to get to the other student union, the Memorial Union, an old but lovely building which used to be the center of student interactions.
On an related note: Parking in Madison is abysmal. Best is to park near bus lines and bus to campus. But be aware that you WILL be out in Wisconsin's brutal winters late in the fall semester and through most of the spring semester.

Health & Safety:
It seemed nice and quiet there. I only visit the campus twice for about 2 hours each time.

Campus police are pretty strict and really watch for underage drinking and drug use, but at the same time if you aren't being completely obnoxious there usually isn't an issue

Parking is a nightmare. I want my car here, but you can never find a spot and its ridiculously expensive.

Being at UW-Madison, you definitely get to experience the good and bad of all the seasons. When its beautiful out, laying out at the Terrace or doing your homework there can put you at ease. On the other hand, trudging to class in a blizzard can pretty much ruin your day!

You can easily score whatever you need: drugs, alcohol, anything you want. They are used a lot on campus, especially once you move out of the residence halls. Peer pressure leads you to believe you can do a lot more than you should. There is a program with the UW Police Department, where if you call for someone because they are intoxicated, you won't get a ticket for underage drinking.

Greek life is there for parties and some other events, but it doesn't dominate at UW. It's not a big deal if you are in a frat or sorority, and it is not a big deal if you never set foot in one. It's nice because you can go to frat parties, which can be fun, but it's not a status thing. As a member of a greek fraternity on campus, I've seen some good and bad to the greek life. They are very philanthropic.

People are everywhere on campus. If your a average social person you will without a doubt see someone you know walking around the facilities.
College Sophomore 2013-08-17T01:47:29Z
The campus is well put together I personally like living on campus. There is enough to do between class, studying, working out, and chilling in the student center that I don't really ever have to be bored.

Always something popping off in the den. Every few weeks there are events students and friends can go to just to get away from the books and have a little fun, without getting into any trouble.

While attending UWP it was not hard to get along with my professors and I felt as if the school worked with me to keep it pushing and stay motivated.

The academics taught at UWP-Parkside are very structured. I feel that I have learned a lot while attending UWP, but I could be more motivated.

The financial aid office is very easy to work with.

It is cold in Madison during the winter. Our campus is beautiful when it is snow covered. The sidewalks and streets are really well maintained so you never have to walk in snow piles.
College Junior 2013-08-12T22:51:04Z
There is really no need for a car on campus, there student buses that take you around campus, however they fill up fast and are pretty busy regularly. If you want to purchase parking for a vehicle on campus, it's pretty outrageous prices. Also, it is pretty pricey to park in the parking ramps to. Your better off biking or getting a mo-ped, or good walking shoes to get around campus.

Drinking is a much more popular activity than anything.

The academic programs that UW-Madison have to offer are awesome. However, the coursework is very rigorous. The buildings are good, however there are some older buildings, but it adds to the character of UW-Madison. Campus life is awesome, there is a lot to do every night of the week.

Tons of dining halls, lots of variety for food, relatively cheap pricing. Inevitably, though, you will get sick of the dining hall food. It happens everywhere to everyone.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
