Safety Is #1 – I've always felt comfortable here on campus. Though there has been reports of theft and violence that's occurred. But like any campus, I'm sure there's always a downside to something. I would suggest to always have a buddy with you at night. Since the campus is big, we do have a service that helps send out people to walk you from the library to your dorm. We have the night bus that runs until morning to make sure students who live kind of off campus grounds have some transportation to take them closer to home if not all the way. Plus, there's always cop cars at night just doing their nightly routine especially on state street, which brings up another note to keep in mind.

Our university is also known to be a place where there's a lot of booze and what not. I don't particularly think it's dangerous but at times and certain areas I would definitely advise to void for safety reasons. This points to another issue as well. Theft!! Please oh please make sure that anything very valuable to you must and should be left at home. I guess one exception would be your laptop. Many things gets stolen here on campus and it because students walk away from their belonging for a few seconds or they forget it. Of course, people shouldn't be stealing in the first place, but they can't help it when they see a 1g laptop or a $200 iphone or ipad. I say, "USE COMMON SENSE". It's human nature to steal and if you lose something you lose something. You learn from it and become smarter about what you lost. Overall, the university is safe and secure. I really think everyone is always looking out for each other which is a really good thing to know.
