I have never felt in danger at UW-Madison. There are police poles all over, there are well lit walk ways, there are buses that go all over campus and there is a system in place to be picked up and walked back to your room if you feel unsafe. The response time for the police is quick. There are key swipes outside the dorms and some inside for safety.
