Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students do not deny the presence and habitual use of drugs at UW. Whether it is alcohol, marijuana, or prescription pills, many have seen or experienced drug use first-hand. The easiest drugs to obtain are alcohol and marijuana. Students say that house parties and dorms are some of the easiest places to obtain these drugs.

The choice to use drugs is really just that—a choice. Students don’t feel pressured to do drugs, and say the amount of drugs being used generally depends on the crowd with which you associate. If the campus or Madison police catch you with illegal substances, there will be consequences. Officers don’t think twice about handing out tickets along with hefty fines.

It's College

Drinking and drugs are a part of any college, i'm not going to lie and say they aren't, and i'm not going to judge by whether people consume them or not. Make your own choices, that's all that matters.

Depends on Your Crowd

There's users, there's party-ers, but you've just got to keep your head on straight.

Present, Pertinent, but Controlled

In terms of illegal substances, the campus is well regulated and students using these services will not be tolerated. This is not to say that there isn't a drug culture, because there surely is. Marijuana use is the most common, though other harder drugs are available with connections. Alcohol use is in decline on campus, though, like most Wisconsin towns, there is almost literally a bar on every block. Alcohol is used commonly, but most students still manage to complete their work on time.
