Winter

Yes, there's snow. If you live in the midwest, you know how to deal with it. If you don't, bring lots of warm/waterproof clothes!

Pleasant

I love being in close contact with all the people who mean a lot to me. The only downside is not being able to go to bed early on friday and saturday nights.

So Active!

Madison always has something to offer! There is something to do every night of the week, all seasons for everybody! During the summer there are concerts on the terrace, and during the winter there are broom ball games out on the frozen lake. There is something for everyone in this busy city.

My School Loves Sports!

University of Wisconsin- Madison has a lot of pride in our sports teams. We love supporting our teams and we know that a variety of sports on campus are very talented. The biggest sport on campus is football, followed by men's basketball and hockey. There is a lot of ways for active and sporty people to get involved!

Just Right

The UW Police is there when you need them, especially when things have gotten way out of hand. But they are not too strict about house parties on normal weekends. During Halloween weekend though, they are there in full force.

Resources Everywhere You Go

University of Wisconsin-Madison has unbelievable amount of resources wherever you go. Particularly, there are more than 50 libraries on campus, and each of them are full of resources and study areas. Also, advising services on campus are amazing. They have offices located in very convenient locations including the dorms, libraries, and offices in each school or college building.

Learning from Life, Not from Textbooks

The professors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are all very accomplished in their area of study, and many are leading researchers and respected leaders in the area. Because of this, we get to learn from their real-life lessons and experiences instead of being taught from a textbook.

Couldn't Imagine Going Anywhere Else

I really love the campus and its proximity to the state capital. There are so many opportunities for the unique interests of students. Although the school is very large, it is not overwhelming and it is still possible to make your voice be heard. I can't see myself being this happy at any other school, and really value my decision to go to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

No Problems on This End...

The financial aid process just sucks in general, but that has nothing to do with how UW Madison handles things. I was always able to walk in to the Financial Aid Office & speak with an adviser and as far as I could tell, the University handled all of my documents very quickly & none of my forms were lost at any time. I just did not receive as much aid as I needed this year and had to take out a private loan, but this again is not due to any errors or hassles from the school.

Madison as an International Hot Spot

I have had the fortune of being classmates with a variety of diverse students, with different backgrounds, opinions, races, and ethnicity. While I do believe there is a lot of acceptance and tolerance in Madison (which has a reputation of being full of hippies), we do not have a sort of integrated approach to many of these students, I feel like a lot of students tend to rely on groups with similarities to themselves rather than differences. But, then again I am a relatively shy person, so maybe that's just my experience.

Bucky's Unions

The facilities at UW Madison are fantastic. The student unions, where I personally spend a lot of my time, are beautiful. Union South was just rebuilt in December 2010 and is central to the student life. It is very centered in the middle of campus, within short walking distance our Camp Randall Stadium & Kohl Center where our athletic events are held. The Memorial Union is beautifully nested near our lakeside & is a huge place in the Spring & Summer. There are always events on the terrace for the students to enjoy. Each of the unions are home to several fast food and a convenience store, mac study labs, and coffee shoppes, which all employ students. The atmosphere on Game Day is something that just has to be experienced.

Best of Both Worlds

Madison is known for three things, academics, football and parties. Really the campus is so big that no matter what you are interested in there will be people / a student org. to do it with! The campus its self is beautiful, full of historic buildings, on a lake and right next to the capitol. Really an amazing place to be!

Bus Pass Included

I really love that the buss passes are included in the student fees. Since they are at a discount rate we don't have to buy the normal passes. You can pretty much get anywhere on the bus. It is sometimes frustrating that it is so hard to keep a car on campus though. I would like one, but it would be too pricey.

Horrible Parking Choices

There are basically no free parking lots available. That means either paying $100 per month to buy private parking, or using no vehicle, which is what most students do.

Work Hard, Play Hard

UW is the the greatest place on earth. I never could have I my wildest dreams imagined the social life that I have now. Between crazy big 10 football games, Mifflin, and just the week to week parties, its the greatest time of my life. And on top of that, you can have the best education. We party hard, but we also study hard.

Undergrad

The classes for Undergrads are very big and lecture halls are often over 300 students. Most of the professors I have had are interesting and really know their material. It is fun getting to be taught by world renowned professors, but sometimes they are hard to approach. Classes are challenging, but if you put in the time it is possible to get good grades.
