Facts

Interviews & Information Sessions

Many incoming or transferring students contact a University representative for a group information session or interview. These are beneficial in that students can have all their questions answered and become more comfortable with coming into the college experience. Contact the Campus Information and Visitor Center (CIVC) at (608) 263-2400.

Campus Tours

Walking tours are offered Monday–Friday beginning at 3 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday at noon. The tours last about 75 minutes and cover the majority of campus. Information sessions are also available for those interested in specific departments. Sessions last one hour and are presented for several departments. Be sure to call in advance to secure a spot for either event. This excludes University Holidays and home football game Saturdays.

Overnight Visits

Students and family are allowed to remain overnight while visiting Madison and the UW campus, and the University maintains accomodations for them. UW also offers incoming or transfer students a chance to shadow current students. Depending on what is available, you can go to a current student’s classes, eat meals with them in the dorms, take part in an organization’s activities, and sometimes even spend the night in a dorm room.

Did You Know? You can also take a self-guided tour of campus. Pick up tour materials at the Campus Information and Visitor Center inside the Red Gym at 716 Langdon Street.
