A Little Scary If You Aren't Used to Being Around It

Madison has a huge population of drug users which is kind of scary if you aren't used to or comfortable with being around people who do drugs. Marijuana is prevalent but there is also a pretty big presence of Molly (especially when concerts come into town), ecstasy and even cocaine. Drinking is the much more common thing to do, but I have never ran into any peer pressure in any regard.

Parking Is Useless..

Parking prices are not only exorbitant but there is no true point to parking. Thanks to a deal struck between the University and the public transportation there is free public transportation for all students. not to mention the ease of walking to classes which would require so much less time than driving and then looking for a parking spot.

Bring a Jacket

Winters are very cold... and long. The summer and fall are beautiful, especially with the lake but winter can be tough. You will want to come prepared with a good winter coat and boots.
