Our student center is the place you will find most of the students when they are not in classes or in the library. Our student center offers a fully equipped work-out room, billiards, and a eatery. There are plenty of tables to eat, study or hang-out. the student center has many t.v.s and comfortable chairs you can sit in to watch. Downstairs is the school store where you can purchase, books and UU items. Our library is awesome. There is a designated quiet area for students to study in comfort with couches, lounges, and tables. The other side has computer and books. All our building well most of them have been updated. We have laundry rooms available in all dorm buildings as well as vending machines.

There is housing off-campus. Usually they are multi-family residences so rent is usually affordable. Landlords in the area are very understanding of your circumstance but do want paid. Most are older, victorian style homes and either have driveways or garages and if not on-street parking is readily available.

Health & Safety:
We do have a campus nurse on-campus if you need anything, or aren't feeling well she is there. Her office is easy to find if needed as are all the offices. I feel very safe on campus Urbana in general has a low crime rate. I have never known of any fights or threats on campus and if there was one campus security took care of it before it could esculate.

The curriculum is challenging yet understandable because the depth the professors go into when explaining. We have our gateways as education majors and there are 3 gateways you must go through to obtain your degree on top of your regular studies, gateways are items such as FBI checks, stafford tests, education applications, letters of recommendations and such.

Urbana University is a very good school to attend if you are looking to major in education. As I have stated I have 3 young children and I have met with their teachers and was informed 2 out of 3 of their teachers are Urbana University graduates, The education professors are willing to work with you. My workload has not been too difficult even with being a mom, wife, and volunteer at my church I still find it fairly easy to get my work done.

Guys & Girls:
Urbana University has a wide variety of guys and girls. As a female I can honestly say I have never seen so many good-looking men in one place. Also they are very smart, I was shocked when I realized the best looking guy in my education class also had the highest grade. The girls are very beautiful and do tend to make me jealous but they are also very sweet. All the guys and girls alike are easy to talk to and interact with.

Even thought right now I am having issues scheduling for next term due to financial aid and lack of scholarships I wouldn't change my experience. I have enjoyed attending Urbana University. All my professors are very kind and understanding, I have had a rough time of here lately, with pneumonia, two deaths in my families, and witnessing a fatal accident, I had to miss a few classes and my professors were very understanding and only wished me the best. They encourage you to do your best, and if you struggle the professors usually take it upon themselves to help you better understand.

As of the time that is exactly why I am applying for this scholarship. I have applied to 2 different loans and a pell grant and even with both i still have an outstanding balance of $1800.00 and am locked out of registering for next term. When I spoke about making payment arrangements I was told no and that it had to be paid in full, by the end of January. I am a mom of 3 who I want to show if you have dreams and ambitions reach for them and they can be obtained; however, the whole financial aid process is making that very hard to prove. They aren't willing to work with me, or show/talk to me about my options.

The weather is not too harsh in Ohio, however, it is very unpredictable. Most of our campus buildings are close together and well within walking distance so if it begins to rain you aren't likely to get soaked to the bone.

Urbana University holds their students to a standard. Most students are entering adulthood and the school wants them to act accordingly. Alcohol and drugs are absolutely restricted from being used on campus, you can easily be dismissed from the school as a student or put on probation if you are caught. Parking is very available yet if they see a car that is not permitted they will give it a citation. Campus security is there if needed they are only a call away. They will come and escort you to your car in the dark even, very nice.

This is my second year attending Urbana University and there has been only one "drug bust." A student had pot on campus in one of the dorms and was caught and dismissed from the school. Our school take drug and alcohol use very seriously. It is in no way, shape, or form accepted. I have never seen anyone on campus partaking in such acts. As for peer pressure my psychology class had a discussion on this the day of the drug bust since the dorms were on lock down and we only had a few students in class. Students admitted to using at one point in their lives if not currently but they are friends with those who don't.

At night our student center typically holds activities for students to join. We have billiards at all times. Occasionally we will have magicians and such visit campus and put on shows. As far as the bar/club scene go there aren't many in Urbana, however, Springfield is only a 15-20 minute drive away and offers many options of clubs and bars.

As I stated earlier I do not have an internship. However, Urbana University is a very well rounded school who offers a wide variety of clubs, groups, and programs available to those who have a major.
College Sophomore 2013-11-05T06:24:28Z
I have not had the opportunity to have an internship as of yet seeing as I am a sophomore. However, I know the student teaching program is very good, and a lot of the students who are in the student teaching program usually secure a job in that school as soon as they obtain their degree.

At Urbana University parking is not a problem. There are parking lots near every building, and if you can't find a spot there we have a large parking lot as you enter the campus; walking from the large lot at the entry to the opposite end of campus in only a 7-8 minute walk. Parking permits are free, we have stickers and/or passes to place on our windows for student parking only lots if your car does not have a sticker or pass on it campus security can and will give you a citation, the first one is always a warning.

Our school is very diverse. We have students from all nationalities. We have students from China, Austria, England, Asia, and other places. Urbana University offers on-campus church or you're free to travel to your choice church. During job fair there are many clubs and associations you are free to join. We have an LBGT support group and recently had a whole week dedicated to those students who are. As far as SES there are students from many different economic statuses, we have struggling parents trying to further their educations such as myself, we have children who are from wealthier families, children who wouldn't know what to do if it wasn't for their scholarships.

We have a dining hall that offers a wide variety of foods. You can choose the grill or other; we also have a student center where you can order sandwiches, subs, wraps and more.
College Sophomore 2013-10-14T23:23:54Z
Campus Dining isn't to bad. There very good on having healthy food and provided a variety of food to have and eat. Its really good because our school is really basically athletes so we get the right nutrition.

Night life is ok. Just depends on the day. Some nights the fellas get together to play the video game, usually Madden or NCAA. But it can get a little boring sometimes because you have travel to other cities to go party like Dayton, Columbus or Cincinnati. It just all depends.

Varsity sports here at Urbana is pretty good. Its a small town so people really get involved with the athletics here. We have on the best training staff. I mean there always there, they do there job very well and always attentive. Were a diverse school so its really cool to be able to play with other athletes from different countries.

There is plenty of fast food options but limited sit down restaurants.

Urbana has strict policies when it comes to drug and alcohol use. Alcohol is used sometimes during parties or event but not huge nor is a big problem. Far as drug usage, bare minimum if any. I've never seen any being used but I'm sure if it is they're very discrete about it. Peer pressure is not something I'm aware of or hear about. I think being in college people become curious and want to try things anyway, so being pressured to do it doesn't become an issue.
College Senior 2013-08-18T23:36:17Z
Our school is in a small town that has mostly whites that live there, but has some minorities; black, Hispanics and Asians. As a whole the university is very diverse when it comes to the student body. A lot of black athletes, many Asians come for schooling, many people from the time- either race come there as well.
I have not had a bad experience at the university when it comes to race nor have I heard much about it either. Most people get along with each other and if they don't it seems they keep to themselves and or look the other way. You don't hear a lot about people arguing or not getting alon because of their race and or social status. I will say we do has tons of males that attend the university, but it because of the sports program; football and basketball.

I am a exercise science major and I love everything about the program offered at Urbana. It is very hands on and I have a lot of fieldwork within my major with all the help from the staff in the program. I would not change my major if I had the opportunity to, I enjoy what I do very much and I look forward doing so as I continue on this journey. My career goals are to always put in 110% in my work, be very work oriented, open minded; especially when it comes to learning new things and being a student as well as a teacher in my field. I don't have much concern about finding a job because I'm open minded about where I can work and where I want to work. I think any opportunity is great and I look forward to it.

The process of getting into my Business Management major was really easy. There were a few delays as I was told that an important individual in the office had just left and things were a little behind. Overall, classes started on time with free books. Can't get much better than that!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
