Ursinus offers many incredibly challenging fields of study, and students often dig deep into their reserves to think critically about the problems professors give them. Ursinus College is one of the top undergraduate schools for research, and it has remarkable science professors. But don’t worry—other departments are not neglected in favor of the sciences. History, English, and the arts all play a role in shaping the campus. Students work very hard to achieve good grades but not to the point of vicious, cutthroat competition that is seen at other schools. If anything, Ursinus students seem to be united, working together to overcome the academic obstacles thrown their way.
Academics are the College’s strong point. The faculty is genuinely concerned with the students, and the teachers are extremely dedicated to their particular fields of study. Each professor is required to take a sabbatical every once in a while to rededicate themselves to their specialty and focus on what they are passionate about. Their exuberance rubs off on students, making everyone here want to constantly achieve more. Ursinus students work very hard and learn a tremendous amount in four short years.

“The faculty and staff at Ursinus College are, for the most part, extremely friendly and helpful. This is largely due to the intimate atmosphere and small student-to-faculty ratio, both of which help contribute to a sense of being part of a community.” |

“The teachers here are great. They really care about the students and get to know them and their interests. They even try to incorporate these interests into their lessons. Most of my classes here have been interesting. Some I’ve taken as a requirement, and these were less interesting, but other requirements have surprised me. Even though I wouldn’t have taken those courses otherwise, I turned out to really enjoy some of them.” |

“I find the teachers to be very open and willing to help. Their doors are always open. I find most of my classes to be interesting; others are boring but essential to building a solid knowledge base.” |

“I’ve never had a problem going to any of my professors for help. Do I find my classes interesting? I find my major interesting, so the classes kind of go along with that.” |

“The teachers that I’ve had in...
“The teachers that I’ve had in class have been, for the most part, very qualified and available for extra help. I’ve found that the smaller class size is something that allows the teachers to be more concerned with the individual achievement of the students, which has helped me learn to focus on the areas where I need the most improvement. Though the workload is more difficult for some majors than it is for others, I think that by graduation, we are all challenged in some way.” |
