Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

With only two places to eat on campus, there are not a whole lot of options. The food here gets really old really fast. To be fair, dining services tries to change things up a bit by offering something different each day, but in the end, it becomes one giant rotating schedule. Wismer, the main dining hall, is very much ostracized—it always has been and likely always will be. It is more of a social animal than anything else. Students who go to Wismer usually go with a large pack of friends and spend a long time socializing there. The food may not be the best, but you can eat as much of it as you want and stay for a while.

Zack’s, on the other hand, provides fresher food. It’s technically a snack bar, but it provides much more than that. The meals served there are great for lunch, but usually are not large enough portions for dinner. Zack’s is a bit more expensive than Wismer, but the quality is definitely better. It gets a bit busy during peak lunch hours (noon to 1 p.m.) and during dinner (around 5 p.m.), but otherwise, it’s a place to quickly grab food and take it anywhere. Jazzman’s in the library is just a coffeeshop, so there’s not much food to be found, but it is an immensely popular spot for study breaks.

Campus Dining

Although campus dining at Ursinus has improved significantly over the past couple of years, there is still not enough variety of healthy food options.

The food on campus isn’t bad for college food. Wismer has a variety of foods at different stations such, as hometown, pizza, hot off the grill, and several others. There is a huge salad bar that is always open, and cereal, bagels, breads, and ice cream are always available. I almost always go to Zack’s because you can use your meal credits there. It has Pandini’s for pizza and calzones, SubConnection, Jazzman’s for salads and sandwiches, and Grill 155, which has chicken strips, burgers, fries, quesadillas, and cheesesteaks.

There are two main dining places on campus. The main dining hall is buffet-style, and the other is á la carte. I think that the food is good with a nice variety.

Did You Know?

Domino’s offers free delivery to campus addresses. In fact, they are so dedicated to delivering pizza to Ursinus students that all a student needs to provide is the room’s phone number extension, and the Domino’s delivery man knows exactly where to bring the pizza.

It’s a long-running joke that only freshmen use trays. If an upperclassmen mentions this to you during summer orientation, they aren’t kidding—no one uses trays!
