Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The social scene on campus is fairly flat during the week, but come Friday and Saturday night, watch out. Most of the campus is hitting the party scene with one of two objectives: get drunk and have fun or hook up and have fun. Of course, there are those who choose not to get drunk, but the other activities they partake in usually seem focused on getting people together. There is a blend of casual hookups and serious relationships here. Those looking for a significant other usually don’t go to parties for that; instead, that’s where the casual hookups happen. Since the male-female ratio is pretty equal, there is a good chance of finding someone to be with. A large chunk of students are not looking for a quick hookup but are simply trying to have fun with a guy or girl. Like at every college, though, there are students who are willing to quickly drop their pants for the opposite (or in a few cases, same) sex.

The campus is also fairly balanced in terms of appearance. Fashion is not too big of a factor, but it helps if you dress decently. And being relatively fit certainly increases everyone’s chances. Ursinus has a few drop-dead gorgeous guys and girls, as well as its share of ugly people, but most students fall somewhere in the middle. In general, most are usually attracted to features other than or in addition to outward appearance.

The Ursinus Life

There are a variety of what the guys and girls are like at my schoo. There are the girls and boys who get dressed up and look fancy. Then there are the students who are more laid back about their appearance. You will say a lot of the athletes stick together. There are many groups of boys and girls that you will always see together.

Everyone is very friendly, there is a large athletic part of the student body that sticks together. No one has major attitudes, and it is not clique like. The guys are average, it is small so can feel like high school a little bit.

Facts

Social Scene

With a school that has as few students as this one, it’s safe to say that there are no secrets. Almost everyone seems to know at least seemingly half the student body, which makes it much easier to be outgoing and sociable. This means that parties are not really needed to interact with people—just walking around campus will do.

Hookups or Relationships?

Relationships are far more prevalent than hookups. There will always be hookups, but a lot of the relationships here have a chance of becoming serious. Since this is a small school with nowhere to really go off campus, the dating scene is pretty much limited to spending time with the other person on campus, making it easier to get fairly serious.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

The best place to meet people depends on the kind of people you want to meet. If you’re looking for a person who you just want to have fun with and not get too involved with, then parties are the best place for that. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something a bit more serious with someone more on your level, then look at your classes. There are some very intelligent people there, and a lot of them also happen to be good looking. Myrin Library is a popular place to study, and you’re sure to notice quite a few good-looking people while you’re passing through the study areas.

Dress Code

It’s pretty eclectic. Some students roll out of bed and wear their pajamas to class, and others do their best to look smart and casual for the day. Generally, though, most students try to wear decent clothes, and very few dress too trendy. Abercrombie & Fitch isn’t as major of a force on this campus as it may be on others. Students usually dress comfortably, and the Gap, American Eagle, Old Navy, and similar lines of clothing are popular brands.
