Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

As one can probably guess from its name, Collegeville is your typical college town, but much of the Ursinus experience occurs on campus. While it is often easy to become stifled by this sort of atmosphere, it fits the College and its students perfectly. Campus is constantly buzzing with some sort of activity, whether sponsored by the sports teams, campus clubs or greek life. On weekends, most students, Greeks and non-Greeks alike, will attend parties at frat houses and top their night off with a short walk off campus to Wawa for a soda and hoagie before returning to their dorm rooms.

But life does not end outside campus lines. The bustling metropolitan of downtown Philadelphia is a short 25 miles from campus, and it can easily be accessed by public transportation. Students looking for a vacation from Collegeville without venturing into Philly can head to King of Prussia mall—also know as “The East Coast Premier Shopping Destination”—which is a short 10 miles from campus. It is much more than a mall and has more than 400 stores and restaurants perfectly placed to take your mind off of organic chemistry, if only for a few hours.

The Epitome of the Small Town

Collegeville, so named for Ursinus College being there, is a comfortable, small town environment. With a farmer's market to the famed Collegeville Diner, the best place for a UC student to go for excitement is the Wawa located half a mile from campus. Sure, there's the dollar store and a CVS for convenience, but other than what's offered on campus, there isn't much going on in the town. The locals aren't a fan of the loud parties held at UC traditionally 3 nights a weekend, but there isn't much else to do, unless you have a car. With one, you're only a 45 minute drive away from Philly, a 30 minute drive to King of Prussia Mall, and a 15 minute drive to the Wegman's. There's a small children's park by Marzella's if you're that desperate for fun. Otherwise, stay on campus.

One Street

Essentially if you drive a little bit on Main Street in both directions, you have seen all there is to be seen at Collegeville.Although the Collegeville Diner and Wawa are amazing, you're out of luck if you're looking for anything else without a vehicle.

Collegeville is not a very...

Collegeville is not a very exciting town to hang out in, but it does have all of the necessities for any college student within walking distance. Wawa is conveniently located, and Target is only a short drive away. There are also a couple of different restaurants nearby for a night off campus, and the King of Prussia Mall is about a 20-minute drive.
