Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students are allowed to bring vehicles after freshman year. Freshmen can get special permission to bring a car if absolutely necessary—say, a medical reason or an off-campus job—but this is not encouraged as the College wants freshmen to stay on campus and become more involved with the school. A new parking lot was recently built behind the performing arts center. There is also parking by the Main Street houses with several small lots behind a few houses. Since there are not enough spots for residents on that side of the road, students sometimes have to park on the other end of campus. Although the campus is very small, and, at worst, it can be a 10-minute walk, it is very frustrating to spend a lot of time looking for a space close to your place of residence only to have to park a distance away. Sometimes students resort to parking illegally, but campus safety makes every effort to ticket offenders.

A car is not needed here, but it definitely helps to have one. The public transportation to Philly is not the greatest, but it works in a pinch. A car is convenient for small trips to Target, the movie theaters, King of Prussia Mall, and The Trappe Tavern, or for making trips to Philadelphia. But, on the whole, there are plenty of students on campus who do not bring a car during their time at Ursinus and get along just fine by bumming rides with other students.

Cars, Cars, Cars

Well as a freshmen you are not allowed to have a car on campus. As you move up in the years you are allowed to have a car. I'm not very sure how the availability of parking spaces works on my campus. I don't have a car. I do know some friends that have cars and they don't really complain about it. The fines are serious. People just shouldn't break the rules when it comes to their cars. Having a car is a good thing at Ursinus because everything is in a driving distance.

Parking Reasonable

There is guaranteed for all students other than freshman. The cost of parking is 100 which is a little uncivil considering the price of the school. If you are a freshman with extenuating circumstances you can file for a permit.

Need for Car on Campus

There is really no need to have a car on campus unless you need it in order to go home. The campus is very small which means all of the buildings are in walking distance. Most places that you would need to go to off campus are also within walking distance.
