I just visited here on Monday and I absolutely loved it! However, I would like to focus on creative writing and I can't figure out what classes or type of classes would be available for me. Is there anyone focusing on creative writing that could tell me or that can direct me to a link with the creative writing classes? I can only find the english curriculum online.

That link gives you the course listings, but you might want to check out the English faculty on the UPS website and email a few professors if you have questions after reading these descriptions.

I'm a high school senior who will be attending UPS this fall. I'm going to be an English major with a Creative Writing concentration. It IS possible. :)

Okay! Thanks guys!

I was originally interested in a smaller school that was far away from my home, and definitely not a party school, but this school I know I can get into and it has a really good creative writing program, which is what I want. But is the party scene really noticeable? And are the classes very big?

No the party scene is not bad. I only ever go to the bars when I go out and now that they only allow 21+ in, the bars are MUCH more low key. The party scene is only noticeable during football season, which is actually fun and I recommend getting involved in the tailgating! The classes vary. A gen-ed class or intro level will generally be about 200-300 people but the upper level classes are only about 40-80 people. There are also smaller discussion classes that meet for those bigger classes, and those are only about 20-30 students.

The party scene is only noticeable if you choose to take part in it. The lecture sections often have about 200 to 400 students, but the discussion sections are much smaller being no larger then about 30 students.

I love the creative writing program! It's great. And the party scene isn't totally obnoxious. I mean, you will hear the ocassional whooping of drunk frat guys if you walk outside around downtown on a friday/saturday night, but it's very easy to avoid.

How is the creative writing program here?

The creatie writing program is good. The class is easy, but there is not much of a "program".

So you wouldn't suggest coming here if you want to major in creative writing?

I love AU, but I want to be an English major with a focus on creative writing (or minor in it). How is the English program, and does anyone know anything about creative writing at the school?

The English program at AU is incredible. Our literature department is comprised of staff and students who are all passionate about what they know and are always striving to learn more which is conducive to a great learning environment.

My friends in it all seem happy and they love how their professors all know them well and give them individualized attention in office hours.

How is the English major at LMU? I want to go to a school with a strong English program that also has emphasis on creative writing.

Good teachers, a couple of different ways to emphasize

The teachers are excellent! They want to get to know their students individually. They're brilliant, but still approachable. The teachers are my favorite part of LMU.
