Local Atmosphere at Virginia Tech

A+

A Small Town With Big Spirit

There is two words that perfectly describe the atmosphere of Blacksburg: Hokie Spirit. Blacksburg is a small town, with huge spirit to everything Hokie related. A person feels part of the minority if they aren't rocking the maroon and orange wear. While the town is small, just 15 minutes away is Christiansburg which has all sorts of activities and shopping that can entertain a college student. Radford college, a big party school, is just a short drive down route 81. There is never a chance to get bored at Virginia Tech.

Greek Life at Virginia Tech

B

No Big Deal

Greek life is a part of the community, but it doesn't dominate the scene at Va Tech. Homecoming revolves around the sororities and fraternities, but other than that, they are nice for the parties.

Transportation at Virginia Tech

A+

No Need for a Car, the Buses Are Great

The Blacksburg Transit is everywhere. Students don't have to pay to ride the bus. Stops are everywhere, and the buses run every few minutes. They even have a bus that takes you down to Christiansburg and from there you can schedule another bus to pick you up to take you somewhere else within the city limits. On weekends, or holidays, they have a bus that will take you to Northern Va, and a various other places. You don't need a car at all, and if you run into a time when you do, a friend is likely to have one.
