Computers at Carleton College

A

Computers Accessible to All

Computer's are available almost everywhere on campus with the exception of the dorms. There a plenty of computer labs in the Library, the Computer and Math Center, the Language and Dining Center, etc. Mac's are the more widely used computers because they are able to boot up with both OSX or Windows. This gives students options as to which operation system they would like to use and makes it easier for each individual to use the one that they are more familiar with. Printing is FREE unlike at other colleges or universities which, is a big plus. The Network is very reliable and fast and when connected to Ethernet cables makes for a smooth experience. Wireless access is available almost everywhere on campus but there are some places that have bad signals and this might be attributed to the specific buildings and how they were built. Here at Carleton, a student does not necessarily have to have personal a laptop or desktop because as I mentioned before, computer labs are available and easily accessible. I must say that the computer labs are very crowded during midterms and finals but that's to be expected. Carleton has done a great job of providing students access to computers and to a certain degree makes life as a college student easier because there is no constant need to search for computers, wireless access, or printers, etc.

Guys & Girls at Carleton College

B

Its up to You, What You Want to Do.

To be honest, since Carleton is a small college in a small city there are not many attractive guys or girls. Students have many diverse and varying interests that for the most part make for a good social life. There are parties at one place or another every weekend and even if you are not the partying type, there is always something going on that goes along with your interests whether it be a play, acapella, group event, etc. The problem with relationships in a small college is that usually most students know about it and that sense of privacy is gone and also the choices available for a partner are small. Overall, it is what you make of a relationship, meaning that it is up to you if you want to have one but be mindful of how things might turn out if things don't go well because you WILL be seeing your ex almost everyday.

Weather at Carleton College

B+

Cold, Snow, and Sunshine

In the winter, it snows a lot and is really cold. Classes are canceled if your prof can't make it but otherwise the close proximity of classes to the dorms makes winter manageable, fun, and exciting. Snow and cold always brings with it complaints but that's to be expected. Once that snow melts starts to melt, it's back to wearing shorts, shirts, skirts, and the like. Winter does not affect college life not the campus experience.
