Off-Campus Housing at Stanford University

B

Not Popular Option

Most students live on campus - those that chose to live off campus pay a high-price for nice Palo Alto housing. Its a great neighborhood, very safe, and close enough to bike to campus, but you pay a price for it, and if you don't have dinning halls you're going to be paying a lot for food.

Greek Life at Stanford University

A-

Non-Greek Perspective, I <3 Greeks

As a non-greek I had a great time at greek parites/events. I think greek life at stanford is low-key compared to other schools and not so restrictive. Most parties are open to all of campus and there's no real feeling of exclusivity for outsiders. Greek houses are the main providers of a social scene, so we are all glad they are there. I had many Greek friends and I don't think there's a general bias towards greeks. All the houses do have their typical stereotypes (jocks, nerds, sketchballs, potheads)but nothing overwhelming enough to bring tension to the atmosphere.

Parking at Stanford University

B+

Expensive - but Getting Better

Parking is expensive @ ~ $200 for a school-year for students, but the amount of parking has improved a lot of the last 4 years. There have been parking lots added and the situation is improving, though it still isn't a breeze to find parking, its not impossible.

Academics at Stanford University

A+

Hands Down Amazing

Professors are almost always available, TAs are at hand, facilities are awesome, all signs of an amazing academic institution. It's simple to sign up for classes, you get almost every class you want, very few have caps and are over-flooded. Workload is hard, but expected. Study abroad programs are available around the world and are AMAZING opportunities.

Facilities at Stanford University

A+

Beautiful Campus

I think the fact that tourists come to take pictures of our campus says a lot. We host special olympics on campus b/c our sports facilities are so good, and we have world-class teams come play in our stadiums. The libraries are full of books and amazing - although Meyer library could use a refresh in it's outside looks (and maybe bathrooms), the content is great. There are many student centers, and old union-re-vamped looks great. There's a ton of stuff to do and white plaza is a great place to lounge.

Campus Dining at Stanford University

A

I Liked the Food

I think the food is solid. I never had a problem with variety or taste. Although every once in a while you feel like you've seen the menu - it's expected after four years. Granted I'm not a picky eater, and there were some complaints about food, I think there are some great dishes cooked up across campus. They try to be flexible to students needs and tastes too and often provide a build-you-own station for things like pasta/panini/omelettes etc.
