RUPD
Rice University Police Dept. is around campus quite a bit. There are also blue light emergency buttons located across campus that will send your call straight to RUPD if you're in trouble. Rice is in a really nice part of Houston though, located in between West U. (multimillion dollar homes) and the medical center, so there's not a lot of outside safety issues.

Off Campus Housing
Most people at Rice want to live on campus, because that's were the entire social life is centered. However, most people have a pretty easy time finding housing close to campus.

Parties, Clubs, Public Parties
There are always parties going on during weekends and you can usually find something on a weeknight. A lot of people go to Pub on Thursday nights. There are some bars pretty near campus that some people go to. Also, each college throws parties every semester that are open to all of Rice.
