Could Be Worse
Most of the facilities at Spelman are nice. The student center and cafeteria are well built and maintained. The campus itself is beautiful. The grass is always cut and the flowers are changed on the regular. The science center is new and has various computer labs that are always open. The dorms are a little bit older, and only one freshman dorm has air conditioning (this becomes a problem in the summer months).

Greeks Are HUGE!
Greek life at Spelman and the AUC (Atlanta University Center, this includes Spelman, Morehouse, and Clark Atlanta) is a big deal. There are various sororities on campus, and they do many different activities. They hold fundraisers, fun nights, community service, and other various activities. The sororities are always present in Greek step shows, and always stroll at Market Fridays or HUmp Wednesdays.

Could Be Worse
There are not a lot of dining options outside of Spelman in the West End area. If you want to walk, the closest places to eat are: Popeyes, Churchs, Taco Bell etc. If you prefer healthier options, there are none.The "typical" places deliver (i.e. pizza, chinese food, burgers) but again, the food is not veery healthy. In order to get good quality food, or healthy food, you would have to go outside of the West End.

At Your Own Risk
There are a lot of apartments available for students in the West End area. In addition, there are always notices about houses/rooms for rent in the surrounding area. However, if you choose to live of campus, be aware that the West End is not the safest place to live.

Financial Aid?
Spelman hardly EVER gives out a substantial amount of financial aid. Only a few people get a full ride, and everyone else has to take out loans for thousands of dollars. Do not depend on Spelman to give you financial aid; make sure you research and apply for many different outside scholarships.
