I've been wondering the same thing. I don't care if anyone, including my friends, do it, and it's not against my beliefs, it's just not something I chose to partake in.

I found other students at Hampshire to be very understanding of however you go. I know many people who do not smoke and/or drink. We also have substance free halls you can choose to live in. And the social scene is not based around substances.

While there is a large drug culture, it's not everything. If you join a club or organization on campus, you're absolutely going to be able to make friends.

No, it's certainly not hard! There are plenty of awesome student groups and places to go on campus that don't involve smoking or drinking.
