Mixed Bag
Bloomington-Normal is smack dab in the heart of Illinois. For some people, that's great-- it's close to home, it's a decent size (125,000), and having ISU in town adds a lot to the recreational activities available. Others, however, can't help but notice that for a town so large, it's still Central Illinois, and the people there are just what you'd expect. Lots of farms, lots of Republicans.

Not for Everbody
There are a lot of things people love about Wesleyan (classes, friends, how easy it is to get around), and there are a lot of things people hate (the bubble, the social life, the atrocious internet). One thing I think says a lot is the fact that despite whatever their admissions office says, there is NO WAY that they have a 90% retention rate. My class freshman year was about 600 people, and I alone can probably name fifteen people who transferred, just off the top of my head. And despite the image they try to present of IWU, a lot of people who go there are pretty unintelligent. If I could do it all again, I don't think I would choose this school.

Caring Faculty
I absolutely love the political science program here. I started out as an English major and wasn't so hot on it, but this was a great choice. (Also, note to any potential bio majors: You won't last long.) All of the faculty is extremely intelligent and cares a lot about their students. It's definitely a tough major, but if you like what you're learning, you won't mind at all. I can't believe how much I've not just learned, but retained from my classes just in two and a half semesters.

Definitely Enough to Go Around
There's a million computers at IWU, and I rarely see people using them. Two good-sized labs in Buck, a bunch more in the library, a decent amount in CNS, and at least one lab in CLA. Free printing!!! Macs and PCs.

If You Have a Car...
Within walking distance, there's not much. However, if you have a car (which many students do), Bloomington has the most restaurants per capita in the country. Which is great, because the on-campus food isn't always the best.

Not for a While, Kids
You have to wait til you're a junior to move off-campus, though a lot of people don't do it until senior year. Most people move into houses rather than apartments, and they usually run between $400-500 a month in rent plus utilities. A lot of people who sign early leases have landlord trouble and get screwed out of their lease in the spring, so beware!
